We kind of need Andy to start coaching the other small backs we have coming through how to defend their assigned man.
Its the kind of leadership he can provide that would be more useful than his weird corporate BS.
Also if we are trying to lure Hill to Essendon we should definitely have McGrath lead the negotiations
Don’t think this is controversial imo.
His disposal is very rushed but today many times he genuinely was under a lot of pressure with not much time to get rid of it.
His one on one defending is elite, like it’s always been.

The thing that frustrates me is his greatest asset when we drafted him was his agility and breaking lines. It’s not about him having a ridiculous run down the ground all the time, but using that agility/evasiveness to create some space and not have to rush his disposal every time would make a huge difference to him as a player.

I’m struggling to see the step back?
He’s no good ball with ball in hand and being used as a rebounder, however when he really puts his mind to a task he can be really solid. Change the mindset, draft some genuine ball users and let McGrath just concentrate on shutting down his man.

His defending is elite.
His panicked kicking, atrocious, but it’s the handballing to a contest or man under pressure that’s the most frustrating/infuriating of the lot.
It’s the basic stuff with Andy that continues to kill us.
