#1 Andy McGrath - from April 2022

Fair play to Andy. He had a cracker on the weekend.

It was an early call to put him in the leadership group and to be honest I didn’t think it was the right call but think he had a cracking game on the weekend. I will say one thing when my son does those panic kicks out of the packs I reckon he is doing a great job but when McGrath does it I’m pretty critical hahaha

Mate, if your son was playing AFL on $800k, you’d probably be more critical too. As I said, he plays some great games, but then all the sudden turns into a completely different player. He just needs to be more consistant.

Yeah 100%. First half on Anzac Day I was telling my brother I wish we would trade him. Had a better second half. My brother reckons when he gets the ball he just tries to dispose of the ball as quick as he can and just wants to make it someone else’s problem. He can be very frustrating at times.

In the first half of Anzac Day McGrath kept Bobby Hill - the guy who won the Norm Smith Medal in 2023 - to zero touches.

McGrath is far from perfect, but he’s been going really well in recent weeks. Let’s hope he can keep it going…

Yeah he did a great job on Bobby I was just talking about his rushed turnover kicks.

What he does is try and take the game on. Not very long since we all went mad waiting for Kelly to do something with the ball. He’s the one player who both locks down and attacks.

I think Reid being as effective as he has been has allowed McGrath, McKay, Prior and to a lesser extent Redman all relax and just play footy. Not having to panic and try to do too much.

Amazing the impact Reid has had in my opinion

When he takes the game on, he looks good. When he just panic kicks, he looks crap.

There was one play where he took off in a straight line i’m thinking ā€œyes Andy keep taking the game onā€ but then stopped to go sideways wtf completely halted our momentum moving the ball forward

Do you reckon he saw acres of space and teammates free everywhere when he looked up?

Not good enough.
You’re a 16 year Blitz Veteran now.

Let’s pick up our game

The stats say he’s had 12 disposals and 92% have been effective…

lol.

Yeah? He has been okay. Imagine being in that backline with a non-competitive midfield

Of course they are effective when he is handballing 1m.

Yet 5th for meters gained.

Geez, in an absolute shitstorm of poor performances tonight, McGrath is an odd one to target.
