#1 Andy McGrath - from April 2022

This is the whole point of why a lot of us aren’t fans of PANDO.

He came in with this big leadership tag on him, because he was a private school boy, school captain, and spoke “well”

Those that can see through him can see he just speaks corporate speak, is clearly well trained in public speaking, but his actual football actions dont represent what we would expect from a senior leader at the club.

Panic merchant, hospital handballs to young team mates.

Yes it may be player led, but the average footballer doesn’t know what a truly great leader is like, they see McGrath doing all the talking, and think that is what you need to be a great leader.

A true leader would see the divisive nature of his abilities and would step down.

Your McGrath ramblings are absolutely unhinged atm.

Full of guess work, fixed positions and assumptions based on nothing but your perception from limited information.

Ok so ultimately what you’re saying is. The coaches and players don’t understand what leadership is, and you, a poster on a forum are better placed to make that decision? I mean personally I can understand criticising players on field talents or attributes because it’s what you can definitively see, but I don’t understand how you feel you are better positioned than the players and coaches to make choices on leadership. It’s what goes on behind the scenes that is most crucial to leadership. I just don’t think any of us here are in a position to say we know better

So is his role the attacking defender or lock down defender this week?

Four turnovers from 12 disposals.

Motlop 5 score involvements from 7 disposals.

Probably the worst opponent he’ll ever play on in the AFL and he’s struggled.
Strange.

That last run out of defense and the handball to Martin’s feet was the best and worst of him in one play.

I thought he was fast?

Because he’s trying to playmake, when he plays the dour defender against good players he’s good. He wants to attack and he sucks at it

He and Laverde get a bit of slack this week with Reid, Ridley, McKay, Redman, Hayes, Cox and El-Hawli all injured.

Exactly. Anything beyond a lockdown role hurts the team.

Good top end speed, poor acceleration. It’s been that way since his athletics days, always came home with a wet sail.

Do feel sorry for him today. I feel like he has been trying to cover 2 or 3 guys at once

That is absolutely putrid defending

I’m not a McGrath basher but is it really that hard not to bounce the ball after only taking three steps. Surely that should have been trained out of him by now.

I’m pretty sure that is trained in to players.

Great game Andy, keep leading from the front son.

yeah good one PANDO.

Needed leadership in the back half tonight, and there was absolutely 0 from our apparent VC.
