#1 Andy McGrath - from April 2022

100%! Brisbane are masters at lateral running…also why players like Zorko, Gulden, Nasiah-Wanganeen stand out. Always kicking on the 45, never over someone and they follow up their work with the handball receive option. Can’t think of anyone that does that for us with a licence to run and gun and consistently pull it off

We lose Sicily but gain Lever this week (assume 10 contests min.)

Haynes has lost 4.

De koning, McGrath, lever, Michalanney and Zerk have all lost 2.

At least they got Gawn right. Pity he isn’t a defender.

Get out of here with your facts and stats Peos

Fair enough.

There’s no place for that sort of thing around here.

This is the dumbest stat if I’ve ever seen one.

Would love to see - defenders trailing their direct opponent.
defenders turning the ball directly over to the opposition

PANDO would be leading all comers

I too choose to attack objective statistics which don’t align with my entrenched views.

Fair suck of the sav, you lot. People defending him because of one isolated stat.

If that stat stood up to scrutiny, and it may, all it does is prove that he’s a good stopper. Which he is. A very good one. But we already knew that.

Even accounting for that strength (his only one), we still need to move past him. He needs to be depth, possibly even traded.

We need to fire him from the leadership group.

I don’t recall one piece of on field leadership in his 9 years at the club.

He tries to “fly the flag” when there is a scuffle - one of the few that does. Not that its much good - he’s too small to have any impact

Let’s be honest, there are only two reasons that McGraths leadership gets questioned on here.

  • poor ball use
  • Wife runs a day spa

If he could tidy both of these up, nobody would have an issue.

I’m sure the thread about Asian massage places wasn’t about pando was it? If it is what’s the address?

Found Bobby Hill’s burner account.

I just dont get the hate for Andy. He is generally a good lock down defender. His other strength is his ability to carry the ball.

Yep, the kicks across the body and hack kicks in hope out of defence can annoy. But generally he does his job. What gets me, is when the team is doing well people come out and praise him. He’s a bit a of a whipping boy for the teams failures.

I regard his wish to carry the ball a serious weakness.

To my mind, he sees the grass in front of him and heads off, ignoring any open options upfield, until an opponent comes towards him and either hurries or blocks his disposal.

OK, take one bounce and then look for an option. You don’t always get credit for those extra bounces. It’s always about moving it to a player in a better position.

Well, I disagree. I think the thing the team has been doing successfully now as opposed to earlier in the season is the run and carry thing. People may not like what Hardwick had to so after the game, but he was dead right. It’s the tactic that breaks through zones as players get sucked into minding bits of grass. I think Andy does that well. But, thats me.

Getting the ball is only half the job. Getting it to a team mate in a better field position is the other half.

He’s one of the few defensive minded players on the list.
