Real question (and not intended to be disrespectful) but will Spike retain McGrath as captain? Give it to Duz, I say. Pidge doesn’t have it IMHO.

I have no problems with the playing group having their say on who should be representing them as a leader.

I know he can shank the footy, I know we probably should have taken Mccluggage but gee he does everything right by us.
I hope when it does turn around for us he is still there.

How many AFL captains over the past 10 years that have played more than 85% of the seasons games have finished outside of the top 10 of the BnF?
I rate him like I rated hep. Great off the field. On the field? Nup.
Reminds me of when I was playing juniors and one of our better players went down. We were 3 goals down. Our captain gave an inspiring 3 qtr time address which went along the lines of “Awww fellas. Let’s do this for Macca! Let’s try harder! Let’s win this.” Through his inspiration we went on the lose by 10 goals.

No offense but that’s an insult to Hep who was pushing A grade in his best years, pidge has not produced any consistent footy that is close to Heppells best.

I’m speaking as a leader. Hep was a good footballer before he became captain. Easily better than McGrath but both weak at pushing their teammates on the field to be better. Hep didn’t have it and neither does McGrath. Lovely guys sure. Would you want to follow them into battle? Definitely not.
