Congratulations to him but let’s not sugar coat it too much.

He’s an exceptional human - I’d sign right now if you told me my sons would grow up with his nature and empathy (given the rest of the spectrum).

I’ve said my bit on him as a footballer - he can have today.

Other borderline exceptional players in the 200 club:

Shaun Atley, Michael Doughty, Eric Hipwood, Tom Alvin, Ryan Hargrave, Ben Stratton, Seb Ross, Chris Masten

Congrats Capt’ Andy, well played. Two hundred games aren’t easy to achieve, and you have taken on the mantle of leadership in our darkest era. Go well today young man, have a good game.

A very good inside midfielder’s game today. Prefer him as a small defender BUT it’s good to have another string to his bow.

You’ve come a long way in 29 days.

No doubt drunk

13 tackles is impressive any which way you hang it

Fair play.

It was kind of poetic that his floaty snap was unable to get us across the line in his 200th.

i think he fits well in the midfield with robey, sharp and farrow as a smaller, quicker and defensive minded option

Which he always has been, more or less.

I’d pick him inside mid every week. Maybe the odd job when there’s a super influential small forward or half back.

Hall of fame post.

It’s a tough decision but I’d have to say, my favourite floors in his game would have to be Herringbone parquetry.

I just want to know if the floors are spongy

He should be the first essendon player to reach 300 since Fletch.

He is a good average player who is a leader, even if he isn’t an inspiring one. But at the end of his career I don’t think we will see him as a bust of a pick 1.

He’s mostly been dealt ■■■■ sandwiches as a player at EFC and an even bigger one after being made captain. And he’s never been anything but classy and gracious, and has played far more good games than his detractors like to acknowledge.

His flaws are obvious - and frustrating - but he’s been a good servant of the club in a dire time. I’d love for him to have some success before his playing days at EFC are done.

About ~50% of pick 1s get to 200 games, ~15% get to 300 games.

Pick 1 / 200 Games

Drew Banfield, Darren Gasper, Jeff White, Travis Johnstone, Josh Fraser, Cooney, Deledio, Gibbs, Swallow, Whitfield (277*), Weitering (215*).

Pick 1 / 300 games

Marc Murphy, Brendon Goddard, Luke Hodge, Nick Riewoldt.

It would be safe to say he’d be the most underwhelming to get to 300 if/when he got there, but it would be a success. Taranto is a butcher but the BBM we needed, and Clug is Clug, but we aren’t picking that scab off again.

Couldn’t agree more on all of this

If he were playing in a team that had any idea on how to put pressure on opposition back flankers and midfields then people would regard him in a completely different light. I would have no problem keeping him on as captain next year.

also, games like that one where his direct opponent is getting up the ground and running in the midfield really do seem to let him show more of his strengths with the ball and actually get around and do captain things.
