#1 Andy McGrath loves finals football (Part 1)

Comparing the wrong footballer…

T. Taranto is the absolute gun from that draft.

Jobe was great for someone with no pace.

Unfortunately for McGrath, he will always be opinion-coloured by his draft# - something that most people get fuddled by. Draft numbers are obsolete once the draft is over. I wish people would just be farkin satisfied with a great player we have, and realise that the team will not function properly until all parts of it do.

Don’t forget that an effective kick is considered a kick more than 40 metres that is to a 50/50 contest. What a 50/50 contest is up for debate. So blind kicks forward is considered effective.

It’s around 50%

Same as Parker, Coniglio, Taranto, Treloar. They’re not at elite kicks but they’re still very good players. McGrath just needs to settle and realise he has an extra half second a lot of the time. It will come with experience.

Come on, mate…

Seriously?

They are also very different players so I am not sure why people keep comparing them.

Absolutely a gun

You can’t rely on a kid to win games of his boot

Our senior players aren’t up to it not care as simple as that.

Zaka
Hurley
Tippa
Smith
TBC

All don’t give it their all and show zero leadership in the field. They aren’t the best but I know they can play much better than they have and lead from the front.

Examples are Kennedy WCE, Gray Port, Betts Blues these guys towards end of their careers yet they play with heart this season.

Our seniors players just don’t have the will or desire not to lose anymore.

I want Merrett as Captain now as he was an ok captain and played great as a captain.

Heppell hand it over, it’s time for the younger brigade to play more now.

McGlug’s kicking is irrelevant. He gets the ball in a paddock. It’s still only 60% v 50% too.

it’s not just about a %.

It’s about creativity and decision making.

He will get there. He just needs to back himself.

McG is carrying 21 passengers week in week out. Chasing, tackling, harassing, creating for x2 because this club keeps players like Zaka in the team.

Mc Clug isn’t carrying Brissie, he’s a receiver of a midfield in a team that has actual footballers.

As we have criticised him we should also praise him when hes been good.

He has been phenomenal so far tonight.

Its unrealistic to expect him to get the ball 19 times every half but if he keeps using it the way he has tonight that wont matter.

He has been so much more composed than recent weeks. I am starting to believe again.
Lets go!

Never gives in.

Perhaps others could learn from him.

OH HI MARK

(19 POSSIES TO HT)

That’s almost 50 in a ft game if he kept that up

Say what you want, spiritually he’s captain of this team from tonight on, and maybe has been for some weeks

Hes the reason we didnt lose tonight.

They had to tag him out of the game, as soon as that happened our midfielders were released and started to get on top.

and then the game saving smother.
Well done Pidge, loved every minute of that.

Copped his first tag at AFL level and from a quality player in Touk Miller to boot
