18 Michael Hurley 193 95 10 Aaron Francis 194 94

If, and that’s a big if.
If, Essendon’s updated height and weight listed for Francis are correct, aside from aerial/marking ability in the positive to Francis, anyone willing to compare the pair based on what little we’ve seen of Francis as opposed to Hurley. Could we hope?

And yes, for a little while there… it was the hairy face look-a-like thing happening. Anything else?

Pretty sure CJohns said late last year that he’s 194 now and that came from his family (possibly Mother). Scooter is pretty close to the family I think.

Yes I have got to know Aaron;s mum well over the year as she sent me a message of thanks for sponsoring him through our Facebook group. Since then we have talked back and forth and she is a great woman and friend. She mentioned they did themselves a height check and it was in her own words 193 and 3/4  He still is behind the group in fitness and needs another big 6 weeks coming up to get to the level team requires (lost 4-5 kilos however). Needs to worlk on his disposal as he can get lazy with disposal and sometimes decision making. So still a way to go but boy his strengths are elite.

Imagine that , a second year player who doesn’t have elite disposal by foot, and some doubtful decision making.

Show me a second year player who didn’t have those sort of issues.

Where it goes, not how it looks. It went to EXACTLY the right place too many times to call it average.

His kicking was a bit ordinary in his first couple of season tbh. Absolutely agree that later on he was jedi-like with his disposal.

Yes but he directed it to his target well. Never spun that well but his disposal was efficient. Was also a reliable shot at goal too.

Fark me, that’s not the point. The question wasn’t “was it effective”, It was claimed it was ‘elite’, it wasn’t.

Jeez I’ve had just about enough of the anti-Hird rhetoric on this site

Saga thread conversion in 3… 2…

Am I detecting some post saga revisionism?

Yes.

Some are going the alt factual route on it, … but their “fact” bubbles keep getting pun tured.

Hird was said to be “the best worst kick” of a footy. Did plenty of damage with the ball, but certainly wasn’t poetry off the boot though.

Same as Peter Hudson - kicked “mongrel” punts off the boot that kept going through the goals all the time.

3.03 is the best kick I have ever seen.

Yeah I remember that kick. Was having an argument with Hawks mate at the time re Hird (ie he was overrated etc.) Right on cue he did that kick. End of discussion.

Hird was one of the best at just getting the ball onto the boot quickly and finding the goals.

Kyle “bandits” Reimers may disagree with that.
