#10 Isaac Kako

I don’t know much, but I reckon with the injury and missing combine I reckon 18-30

agree makes it interesting with our second rounder at 28.
can we package Laverde with it and move up to 24 or similar to get ahead of the bid and there still might be someone we want available.

That’s a Robert Ludlum book, right?

If the kako bid doesn’t come before pick 15 I wouldn’t be against trying to trade our current second and next years second to get up and try and get an extra player in before it comes

So regurgitating someone else’s opinion is valid? Deity of choice, what a mingf@rk!

I agree. Historically we’ve sucked balls but this year I think I see some green shoots in this regard.

For sure normally Essendon it’s one player here and there that comes on, I reckon you could go through every year before this and pick maybe one very rarely two players that have improved.
This year though there’s probably 4 for sure that have developed over the year and that’s not including Hayes who is tracking nicely in the vfl

You should have just stopped here. You’d nailed it

Do you get a mid first rounder for a f2 and 2nd round this year? Assume we get the same position next year it would be 677*2 = which is ‘worth’ between pick 10 and 11 but that’s just based on the maths

Probably not but if we were to get a second somehow from a trade then I reckon two seconds in a deep draft could get it done

If history has taught us anything, it is that we start to implement a premiership team’s successful strategy shortly after every other team has figured out how to counter it.

That’s right, GAJ was a great small forward. He was also a great midfielder. Heaps of smaller midfielders start off in the forward line. If they are good they’ll find ways to kick goals.

Yeah reading the trade/draft thread I can’t help but think this will happen and we’ll have 4 x great small forwards with no where to play them.

The good news is Brad will run out of HBFs to place them on. Might have to play at least one of them forward.

Having a gun small forward provides so much opportunity for the other small forwards. Hopefully this young fella is the messiah

Our problem here is that pretty much the only way to trade up is to get an uprgrade for an expendable player, of which we have plenty.
The trouble is, you have to do that in the trade period, not on the night of the draft. And we would only be guessing where the bid might come.
eg if on draft night, no bid has come when we get to pick 20, and there is someone there we like (eg a KP forward like Gerreyn, Faull, Whitlock), we might want to trade up from 28 to get the pick in while the player is still there and before our pick 28 is used on Kako. We don’t have anything except future picks to use on the night, and our F2 probably wont get you pick 21.

Sorry if been mentioned but what’s his defensive game like ?

We need more than just one good small forward

One thing i really like about kako is when hes moving through packs he seems to really tuck himself in to to try and get through the space then bursts out.

Yes, but i think having 2-3 legitimately good small forwards with pace is very key to contemporary football.
