Would Rosas be a good acquisition and second small forward?
The solution here @HarryJay is to trade said player for future pics
Example you gave with Laverde, for a future 3rd rounder
Or someone like Hobbs, for example, Richmond’s future 2nd(protected from an Kako bid) and maybe a 3rd this year.
Then on draft night if player we want is still available at pick 18 and no Kako bid, we use that capital to trade back in to this years.
give him some one on one time with Tippa…thats should help both attack and defence
Where these kids play in their top age year can be a red herring. If you’d done the same analysis based on last season you’d have said that Nick Watson plays wing and half back with occasional stints in the forward line. But everyone knew he was a small forward.
The coaches of Talent League teams will swing kids around into different positions based on what recruiters want to see. If they want to see how versatile Watson and Kako are away from their natural forward role, then they get moved around.
Yes, a feasible approach. But I don’t think there are going to be any takers when we put our hand up to convert a future pick into this year’s late first or early second round. Our future second could be anywhere between about 22 and 28, and would provide unknown value compared with what is expected to be good value in this year’s draft.
AFL 2024: Isaac Kako interview, Essendon Bombers draft targets, partnership with Nate Caddy, NGA Academy, comments, AFL Draft, latest news

It’s time to get excited, Essendon fans.
Calder Cannons small forward Isaac Kako, a potential top 15 pick in this year’s AFL draft, says it would “be a dream” to pull on the red and black for the Bombers in 2025.
The Bombers have been crying out for a superstar small forward for some time now, but their potential saviour is about to arrive in the form of Kako, who is blessed with incredible speed and agility that would be an asset to every AFL side.
And the best part - he is set to form a “dynamic duo” with another young up and coming Bomber who dazzled in his first season.
Essendon have access to Kako as a part of their Next Generation Academy and will be able to match a bid for the gun youngster no matter where he is taken in the draft.
“Playing AFL football is the dream, no matter who it’s for. Essendon have done a lot for me, I’m grateful for the opportunity I’ve been given. It would be a dream playing for them but also playing for any other team,” he told foxfooty.com.au at the AFL Combine.
“It would mean the world. Every kid’s dream is to play AFL football. I’ve done a lot of work to get here, and my family’s seen it all, a lot of stuff behind closed doors grinding away. It would make my family proud and mean the world to me.”
The small forward has elite goal sense, speed to burn and loves to bring his teammates into the game.
Kako attends Parade College in the northern suburbs, the same school that current Bombers excitement machine Nate Caddy attended last year.
And Kako is excited to potentially “link up together on the big stage” with Caddy in the red and black.
“It would be pretty good to link up with him again and share the big stage,” he said.
“We’re real good mates and have played a lot of footy together. We were a dynamic duo back in high school kicking bags of goals together.
“We’re pretty close mates and still stay in touch. I ask him a lot of questions, he’s got a wealth of knowledge now, I’ve been picking away at his brain and he’s been really good.”
Kako’s parents, both born in Iraq, moved here in 1999 and Kako is one of three brothers in what has become a footy-mad family.
The Bombers have been a constant all throughout their lives and Kako is very grateful for the opportunities the club has given him over time.
“Back when I was about 13, I played in the Adam Saad Academy and got noticed from there,” he told foxfooty.com.au at the AFL Combine.
“Everything shot up from there, they’ve done a lot for me.”
Kako has been a frequent visitor at The Hangar for several years and says the club’s NGA program has been a fantastic resource for helping his professionalism grow.
“Back when I was younger it would be in every Monday, I’d go in and do recovery and use the facilities to better myself,” he said.
“Now I’m in there once every two weeks, they’ve also been really helpful with my ankle rehab. They’ve been really good to me.”
The youngster credits former Bombers Academy coach Harmit Singh as a key influence in his career so far.
“He was a big influence on my football and I’m glad to have him in my corner,” Kako said.
Kako’s under 18s year was derailed before the Coates Talent League finals when he suffered an ankle syndesmosis injury, but the future Bombers says his rehab is going well.
It’s been six weeks since Kako’s ankle operation and he’s feeling “not too bad” but conceded he is still “struggling to kick a footy”.
Kako has all the makings of fast becoming a cult hero figure in the AFL world.
His elite craftiness in the forward line, combined with his long locks of hair will make him a fan favourite for many years to come.
And he can’t wait to excite the footy world.
“I like being fun to watch,” he said.
“I need to get a few celebrations in my bag, they’re all taken now but I definitely need a few. I’ve kicked a few good goals from the boundary this year and I’ve had nothing, I need to get some in my bag!”
The AFL Draft will begin on Wednesday November 20.
Will probably end up like ned cahill
Parade College
Atleast Kako apparently possesses pace unlike Ned.
I still to this day dont understand what Dodoro believed he could contribute in an AFL team.
Lets go with the next LEROY then
ANNOUNCE MESSIAH
Most excited ive been since Walla came onto the scene dont fark this up Essendon
Noticed the age now has him at number 6 in their draft rankings
How quick is he?
That’s bad news for us if it means we lose our first pick.
maybe you’ve farked it up by getting your hopes up so high?
Link to their phantom draft?
its mostly cos someone talked to melbourne and believe theyre a chance to bid
Not necessarily unrealistic though.
Gun small forwards seem to be the biggest difference makers in the game right now.
