#10 Isaac Kako

Kako does seem a likely prospect but does he possess the wizardry and skill of Walla, and yet to see that lightening speed in pursuit and huge tackle. If he can kick more 34 goals in a year and land over 100 tackles then he could be viewed in Wallas league.

I would be extremely surprised if he has the wizardry and skill of Walla.

However, he will have a much better fitness level, and that’s worth something.

I like to think we can love both players equally.

Kako has not played a game yet! Give him some time. Yes, he’s exciting but so was Walla and, before him, Bewick. (I know the Eagles felt Bewick should have been one of theirs but he played for us. Whoever was doing the recruiting then deserves credit for signing him!)
Let’s hope there’s not too much pressure placed on Kako too soon.

Kako, looks very very likely to be something very special.
And unlike Walla, the Team and Club culture that he is starting out with is likely to help him find his best and build on it.
Walla was brilliant despite all the noise around him, which I think makes him even more special.

It will not surprise me at all, that Kako emerges as the better, but as is so often the case, comparisons get made on competitors that never ran in the same race, under the same conditions yielding comparisons of limited quality.

walla was an exceptional talent. it took him sometime to find the fitness required for the level but once he did he sat very comfortably among the modern great small forwards IMO, for talent. his reputation is only held back by playing in pretty rubbish teams and his career essentially being derailed by COVID, he was absolutely lethal from anywhere on either side of the body and could just as easily spot the open man in a better position that nobody saw as take a ping for goal. his pace and evasiveness were elite

if you take out his first year at half back and his last where he really wasn’t fit enough to be on a list he played 105 games for a return of 145 goals. with a better team around him i’m sure he would of produced some of the big season returns that betts and cameron produced in top end of the table sides.

Absolutely correct, a once in a generation talent.

Imagine if our club wasn’t such a shitheap during his playing career. Not like he was injury prone. At 31, he’d still be playing right now making defenders look like dills.

They wrote a song about the guy, there’s no denying he was box office and elite talent

He is that good it’s going to happen at some point he gets targeted by defenders during the season.

One of those players that even oposistion fans loved watching

I was there. 19 yo old with my then GF who was a ā– ā– ā– ā–  Carlton supporter and her dad who was a mad cats fan.

I remember the weird pre game firework type thing that went sideways off the ground

Was heartbroken when Longy did his Patella.
Now I’ve done it myself and it’s hellish

Had great seats that night for the Bewick show. Such a great memory

Maybe Llordo is implying that ā€˜Coleman was OK, but he didn’t stand the test of time’.

Was one of Bewick’s later goals a drop kick from the goal. Square?

Can be embarrassing when players bring their donkeys to the footy.

Yes. Trivia item: Boris was the last player signed up on the old ā€œForm 4ā€ system.

Another trivia item: ā€œWhat is the Form 4 system?ā€

I recall Sheeds mentioning the Form 4’s all the time.

He should have got Goal of the Year for that fantastic goal he kicked against FCFC.

If he had played for a media-favoured club there is no doubt he would have been awarded that.

Each VFL team as it was then was given 2 or 3 form 4s to use to recruit interstate players.

I seem to remember some system of trading them (?).

And I think the player could choose who they played for if form 4ed by more than one club (?)
