Amazing to have a small forward who can crumb and feed other players opportunities when he isn’t kicking goals. Last year we had nobody to crumb and the opposition defenders would launch attacks until the cows came home.
It’s hard to tell if this is a criticism or compliment on Blitz now.
And he has not changed one bit
So far I love everything about Kako’s first games. He’s creating opportunities in the forward 50, he’s roaming well outside the 50 to get possessions, he applies pressure far more effectively than Davey does. His closing speed is incredible, and forces poor disposal from the opposition.
He’s shown he can get into the right spaces to nab goals for himself, he’s just not hit the scoreboard much so far. That should come.
Just keep ticking off the games, get the experience. He’ll have a couple of stinkers along the way, there are some nasty small backs that will towel him up on the odd occasion, just get the learning.
He would have 33% more experience if QLD wasn’t so horrid.

That’s why you are a legend of the club. Assuming you are the real @Albert_Thurgood
or even the twitter legend.
Why is he wearing his jumper backwards?
(Yes, I know we weren’t so strict on sash direction back in the day. )
What’s the significance of the pigeons? Are they carriers pigeons bringing the news of Albert’s latest exploits or are they representing the original “twitter”?
Remember a few years ago on X when people were ■■■■■■■■ that he doxxed the cretin behind the efcfinals page. Legend in my eyes
Makes such a huge difference. No surprises Gresham and Menzie are playing better too… much easier to shut one of them down than three.
Whoever ran that page had the last laugh.
Essendon had a list management strategy focused on trying to end the no finals win streak and not a flag, now look where we are.
Give him another preseason oh boy razzle dazzle
I’ve been more impressed than I thought I would be.
He hasn’t kicked the goals yet, but he is still having impact in multiple ways he is using the his possession to creat scoreboard impact which was his biggest strength in the juniors and he is taking a quality defender away from the other small forwards because he is putting himself into the dangerous spots.
But the best sign is his defensive application, which was the biggest deficiency the draft experts had on him.
Basically he has the fundamental aspects of modern small forwards nailed away, after which the goals will come naturally
Yep he lives in Perth under witness protection with an assumed name; @Albert_Thurgood.
I think he is a spy as he visits China a great deal.
Need a gif of Kako putting down ball to join melee
wouldnt mind seeing him kick a goal soon… its been a while.
His goal assists are great and he had the highest goal assist numbers in the under 18s last year, it’s transferred to the afl which is good.
One thing I’ve noticed, is how reluctant his teammates are to kick him the ball. I think it’s coz he’s small they worry he’ll lose the contest, but once you see it, you can’t unsee how many times per game they burn his repeat leads to space. It’s gotta be frustrating for him but he keeps trying to create an option.
Is played or he is to far up the ground.
