The goals will come he’ll be fine
He’s just drawing defenders, so Menzie can kick 4.
But seriously, he does draw the best small defender, and at the same time, his ability to read the play, and apply pressure on the ball all the way out of defence is a huge addition to our ability to both score, and prevent end to end play, even when he isn’t kicking goals.
Keeps playing to far the up the ground for my liking
After 3 AFL games.
He moved up to the flanks and wings more as an U/18 so hopefully he is given licence to do that at some stage - thing is, he isn’t a Nick Watson type small forward who dominates games inside 50. I reckon I saw him do more good work 50+ out from goal when I watched him.
I reckon that shows in his senior games too imo. He does a lot of good work up the ground, applying pressure, creating havoc and setting up goals. Tippa was elite at that, hopefully Kako can be too, because I reckon someone who creates turnovers in that high half forward spot is just as valuable as the person getting on the end of the goal.
Yeah it has, his work away from goal has been great - he has that magic touch that the best creative smalls have, moreso than kicking multiple goals. He did show he can do that in the practice match, but I don’t think that’s his best attribute.
His break out game will be Anzac Day,North or Dreamtime
Could be next week against Eagles they are horrendous
Watch Essendon fight out a 3 point win.
Watch closer, he played well all game and his scoring involvement is great, and his forward defensive pressure is not Walla as yet, but getting there.
For mine, he’s been a brilliant addition. His game shouldn’t be measured in goals and points. It’s about application, pressure and efficiency when he has it.
The foundations of his game area strong. From there he can build as a more offensive threat.
Sheesh, some people are hard to please. Imagine if you can, how much impact he will have after 6, 8 or even 10 games.
If only he was 10cms taller, and 10 m/s quicker, and emitted a luminescent rainbow when he gets the ball we’d really have something to get excited about.
Not since Hurley have I been so confident that a first year player is going to make it.
Best small forward we’ve had since Tippa, and will be bums on seats because of him and Caddy up front.
Tracking beautifully, plays every game he is fit for.
Not that remarkable. I never misplaced mine; even after 60+ years they’re still here.
Will have another mate in Huss joining later this year
Kako instantly joined and become one of our 12 best players on the field.
He’s great. Honestly I think he’s doing plenty already.
We just gotta find him some more friends doing likewise regularly.
