#10 Isaac Kako

The umpiring decision that called play on when he was tackled but pinged the swan when he tackled him was the best piece of umpiring I’ve seen ever.

It confused the comms but it was spot on.

Kako went straight into his kicking motion when he got the ball. The swan took 3 strides and tried to shake the tackle.

Never in my wildest dreams would I expect an umpire to make those calls in our favor against Sydney

I kind of agree but I also like the HTB interpretation which states that if you have time to step into a kick, you’ve had prior (or alternatively that if you go to kick and are ripped off your kick and don’t make contact it’s incorrect disposal).

I can see it both ways though.

I think he received and went straight into his action so that should clasify as making an attempt without prior as I currently understand the rule. Getting ripped off your kick with prior is a different bag. And it wasn’t a case of him accidently on purpose throwing it to a teammate while attempting to dispose which I agree should be pinged and often isn’t

There are so many decisions that can be both right and wrong depending on the interpretation of the week. I think these two decision were correct. When will they bring the in the back rule back?

Resting Kako? Sheer madness.

Why?

I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if he’s give a week’s rest somewhere in the season being a first year kid, but he seems to be going fine currently.

First year player who’s racked up 8 games straight and they usually taper off. Astute management would be to give him a rest before he shows signs of burn out.

I don’t think that the swans player actually tackled him. Barely held or impeded him. To make it harder to say incorrect disposal, Kako didn’t swing his boot at it.

So I think they had to give the benefit of the doubt, just like if you drop the ball when getting bumped.

Or the old rugby “place the ball on the ground and slide it to a teammate” trick.

And when you throw “knocked out in the tackle” in the mix, it’s a choose your own adventure.

Kako is doing brilliantly. Providing pressure, getting to contests, nice creative possession, pick up a goal here and there.

He looks fit and healthy, no need for a rest right now. If he was in the guts and running 15-20km a game maybe, but he looks just fine.

That was great, the one against Duzz was not. He got pinged a couple of times, both not consistent with other calls. Wonder if they are jealous of his good looks and all round awesomeness.

It’s not 8 games straight, we’ve already had a bye.

I would probably rest him when we play Brisbane in Brisbane in a couple of weeks.
By then guelfi should be match fit. After 3 games in the Magoo’s.
And then bring him back fresh against the bloos

Guelfi looked gassed in twos. I was at the interchange bench. He’s a bit away from AFL.

I think I’m having a kak attak

I mean no one runs 20km a game these days.

You’d find that forwards and backs actually run the most throughout a game, very rarely do players in the guts rack up 14km+

I’d say Kako is probably doing close to 13-14km a game given his role.
