#13 Nik Cox - thru 2026 (Part 1)

Not quite sure about that.

Although he’ll need to bulk up, a tank will naturally improve in an elite sporting environment.

His conditioning just needs to be managed correctly.

Keep in mind that he put on 8kgs this year and ran a 6 minute 2km after putting that weight on.

What if Jones nails CHF, Eyre/2MP FF, Reid CHB and Brand FB.

What do we do with Cox other than as a utility?

I think your attitude is just nonsense and would have Sheeds becoming apoplectic.

That is a massive if considering they have a combined AFL games tally of about 40 and nearly all of them haven’t played a competitive game in over 12 months.

If they all nail those positions then I’d be happy for cox to play anywhere as we will be a juggernaut for the next decade

A loose Cox.

Essendon will fix that up by February.

Yep, can’t have anyone setting a precedent that other team members have no hope of following.

A Cox for all positions.

Cox to the left or right. I’m happy with that discussion.

Cox forward or back… I’ll leave that to the experts.

I think he looks like Bernie Tomic

I’m confident he will be Australia’s Next Top Superforward.

already looks bigger than Jarryd Grant during his AFL career.

When the players were getting announced I thought there’s a face I recognised that I haven’t seen in a while. It took me a moment before i realised it was 2MP looking a lot like Melksham?

I would hope we lean to throwing early games into these players sooner than later as long as it is constructive for their development and we remain competitive. I think this is essentially important this year as to fast track their development and our resurgence, but also because I think a lot of supporters are more excited re our youth and discovering what they can potentially do, while building early chemistry. Also, most of us aren’t expecting much in results for this year so its a bit of a free swing for coaches and development. Lastly, I would like to think we only need to tank this year only (maybe one more) so its another reason to pump as many games into any recruits (including the Irish, Jones, Francis and any other puzzles needing clarification). A season of little expectation, little stress but lots of excitement. Go, Cox!!

I hope i’m wrong but I just keep getting the Kepler Bradley vibes

Cox is clearly a better kick and better aerially. He’s taken some screamers.

Kepler was always far too unco for any of that

Kepler may not have been the most skilled player, but he was a great athlete, always gave maximum effort and was brave.

Cigarettes didn’t stunt his growth?

I am getting the Gumby vibes

Sheedy screwed Bradley’s development by deciding that he kind of carried himself like Fletcher, so must be a defender. He did not thrive on the last line, as it exposed his weaknesses (lack of explosive speed and somewhat questionable disposal under pressure), while not allowing him to play to his strengths (competitiveness, good tank, could run all day). He should have been a HFF/second ruck, but Sheedy tried to turn him into something he wasn’t.
