No chance.
Next season will be telling.
He was the completely wrong pick for us in that draft. We drafted him as a key position defender, then proceed to play im as a winger. And then find out hes not very good in defence. Could probably be a serviceable intercept defender if we didnt have Ridley.
Isnt the simple solution to play him as a high half forward that happens to be 2m tall
I see him primarily as a mobile 2nd ruck or nothing.
Will.improve next year, still think he will be a player, but another preseason next year and his body will fill out more and he can ok improve his endurance more so and gain experience.
2026 season think he will shine
EFA
If only he was as built as Liz Ellis.
2 more years of inconsistent footy is coming for Cox, hope we keep the faith in him. Round 1 2027 is the Cox Iām waiting for.
I agree, i think as a utility he has a lot of footy IQ to build and that also takes time. I donāt mind that the weight is coming on slowly, he certainly didnāt look out matched for strength in the contest last year compared to before so I suspect even though he isnāt yolked he might be ok strength wise. What i want to see this year is him to use his body more and take the game on more by playing on and with intensity.
Yes. Even as a hard running fwd pocket. He has shown that heās able to get up the group for an outlet kick, and when we drifts forward heās a danger.
Itās actually insane how much some people fixate on his size. Imagine being a fully grown man (??) and spending so much time on the internet poring over and arguing over pictures of Nic Coxās biceps and how unsatisfactory they are.
Whatās wrong with it??
I think people just want him to look like he actually puts the work in off field. To be a decent AFL player you need to have at least a bit of size to you
He looks as skinny as he did when we first drafted him.
Donāt think we drafted Cox with any position in mind - which is the main issue. Dodoro talked about how he could play midfield when he drafted him
āYou talk about being too tall, a guy like Nik Cox is 200cm but he can play on the ball, itās not like heās a key position forward who doesnāt have agility, heās actually a really nimble young man and very exciting.ā
If that was a quote directly from Adrian, then he is lying yet again. In this promo video, hes talking alot about Reid and Cox being key position players.
The link between size and strength isnāt what some think it is.
The question isnāt about if heās strong enough. Itās about whether or not heās good enough. Train him to play as a forward. If he makes progress, give him one year. Otherwise, we move him on.
Dodoroās obsession was for the key back to transition into midfield. Said the same thing about Ridley, Francis and Gleeson
What a dumb take
Wonāt be at Essendon by 2027
