#13 Nik Cox - thru 2026

Nobody would have even questioned it if it wasn’t for Cornes talking ■■■■. It may be have been on the borderline and the medical staff just decided to play it safe.

FFS it’s the dumbest conversation that’s happened on blitz in a long time.

Why are we talking about this? Concussions can happen in the most innocuous incidents. kane is dangling bait to rev up disgruntled biltzers with a target he knows gets them clicking.

It’s because like i said in their first year, they look good cos there’s no pressure to perform. They were first year players pick to help rebuild the club, they got to run around looking flashy, kicking off both sides feet with relative success, but it was just fun and you didn’t have the expectation to be anything other than a 1st year players chasing stats and trying to look good.

Fast forward now, they have an expectation to be getting better and being more consistent, which they aren’t.
They are expected to be more disciplined in the off the ball stuff and defensive stuff, which they aren’t.
they’ve been moved around a bit, cox kicking off his left foot now coming out of the backline and scrubbing the kick straight to the opposition now has more weight behind it’s stuff up.

players look good early in their careers, because you’re basing your perception of their value and worth on the future and improving in all facets of the game to match the talent they have shown with ball in hand.

cox as an example now generally looks woeful compared to his first year, cos like a lot of players he has no real defensive side to his game, he gets mauled in contested situation esp when playing as a backman, his flashy bits of play don’t add as much value anymore and when you combine it as a whole product, he’s not matching up to the potential we all though he had.

he’s a “utility” player that has very little utility, and is getting a game cos of his draft number and the fact he’s tall and athletic.

Blicavs did it and worked, because he had to learn early on that he didn’t have the skill or smarts to compete with the best, so he built resilience and endeavor quick smart and became very competitive.

Cox is still getting by on his talent will make him come good, at some stage.

Geez Cox escaped scrutiny this season. Cox should have been nowhere near being selected for our afl side and another reason Scott has no idea what he is doing.

This is the kid who could be offloaded for a pick between 20-30.

Surplus to our needs.

Why are you comparing 2 completely different players???

Cox is a wingman and his best position and Robert’s has been playing wing in the vfl and afl, I would have thought that was obvious?

Cox, Kelly, Jones, menzie, hepp. All picked on a wing at various stages before Scott finally relented and selected Roberts (aka Rogers)

I am certain if we did that another club would make a serious player out of him.

Except Cox didn’t spend the season playing wing in the seniors? The KPD and KPF time will change the stats right?

Correct he didn’t spend 100% of the season sitting on the wing the same as Robert’s didn’t spend the same 100% there but Cox played the majority of the season there and hbf, hff which is similar to Robert’s in his 3 games.
Cox did play at times as third tall in defence but could have picked up intercept possessions similar to Ridley but didn’t.
One is 18 in his 3rd game and the other is 22 with plus 50 games both competing for a spot in the team.

Probably.

It’s called a win win.

There’s a lot of project cars that sit in peoples garages doing nothing.
But the mrs finally makes you sell it, someone ends up finishing it, you get the shed back to drink beers in again.

Everyone walks away a happy camper.

Cox is our EH Holden

Cox didn’t miss scrutiny from me. Soft and not up to it. Trade before all other clubs realise it. That said I’m sure they know

I personally cant believe they re signed him for 2 years. His season was bog average

Actually, i can believe it

He was very lucky but no one wants to admit he’s a bust.

Dodoro/RFK overrate versatility. Cox is an example of this. Not thrilled with how it’s working out but I’m not giving up on him.

Don’t wanna see him up field or in the back line. Seems handy around goals. Why would we not play him forward for the first 6 weeks of next year?

Not the popular opinion but Id put him up for trade.

We cant have him in the same team as Jones, its miles too tall and as soon as we started doing it our pressure fell right off this year.

I dont think we have seen much if any improvement from Cox. If it goes the same way next year he cannot be retained.

We just re signed him for 2 years. Just as good as giving menzie a year, and all our bog average senior players on long deals

I dont think anyone truly understands how fkd we are for a long, long time

Yet Mass, who showed more than both of these players last year was offered peanuts.

■■■■ it’s infuriating watching him play for the Hawks now.
