#13 Orazio Fantasia - his surname is pronounced “injured”

So yesterday afternoon was just a another wasted afternoon on the blitz.

What a letdown.

The internet wins again!

Came to the news late by which time the story had well and truly flopped but before reading any replies my initial thoughts were… ok, if he wants to go no worries. 2 first rounders would be really nice especially if they came from Port. Anyway, reporter must’ve heard something from somewhere. Twilight zone type weirdness to run with a big story like that without some context. And seriously, since forever, when can anyone believe the word of player/player manager, especially at this point in a season. And it wouldn’t surprise at all if Port have made moves. Perversely, Port could’ve leaked their intention as a tactic to help sway Raz towards them? #wheretheressmoke

While Orazio is staying do we get to keep the first round pick we would have got for him? That bit wasn’t clear.

Yep, it’s chucking it down this morning!

Not exactly, as we’re sending it to gws for Coniglio.

thanks

Christ Mitch, the bloke very clearly indicated to anyone reading that he wants to leave this year. It doesn’t matter what the writer said, it’s what he made people think but writing about 2019 and using past tense.

I repeat, Coniglio is a free agent and we would not have to trade to get him.

Wait so people actually choose to move to Adelaide?

thanks.

So blitz was wrong about that earlier? Last time I believe anything on this site.

Apologies to @Bomb_Doe for misleading him.

I’ll endeavour to stay quiet on such matters in the future.

Lol. In theory, GWS could match the offer and force a trade but it’s never been done. They’d be better of to let him walk and take a compensation pick. It’s pretty much accepted these days that when a player has served his 8 years he deserves to go to the club of his choice.

It’s a good thing. It means if we really wanted to we could enter the race for him. Would just put a squeeze on our salary cap.

Sort of. Adelaide made it quite clear to Geelong that they’d match an offer for Dangerfield and as a result the two parties went into discussions and came to a trade both parties were happy with.

Not if Raz goes :grinning:. 2 first rounders + Coniglio would make for another enthralling off season

What did the AFL need a distraction from yesterday?

Only plausible explanation for the story.

GWS have already said they wont match IIRC

Edit…

Didn’t Dangerfield say to Geelong that he’d only nominate them if they traded? I think he was trying to do the best thing by his old club.

I recall him saying he didn’t want Adelaide to get screwed but I don’t recall him ever saying he’d stay under any circumstance.

GWS would be stretched trying to force us into a trade, we don’t have a first round pick and unlikely be able to get one.

I also can’t see GWS requesting any of our players that that fits their needs that would match the value of Coniglio. Accepting a first round pick from the AFL would be their best bet in this scenario. But that will never happen because…us.

The irony is that we could get Coniglio for free if Raz stays because of the scenario for-mentioned, but unless Raz leaves, we wouldn’t have the cap space to get Coniglio. Raz leaving would also get us at least 1 first round pick which GWS would then change their tune and demand that plus more forcing us to trade and losing the ability to get Coniglio for free, because…us.

Miss Humble NSW Fan has moved to Adelaide for UNI and now work. We have visited a number of times and find it a most pleasant place.

In terms of livability, Dubbo has it all. Drove the 1.5 km to work in a couple of minutes, one set of lights, no stress. Easy parking, worlds best Zoo and of course the best footy sauces going around.

You dont know what you are missing.
