He’s found his spot, was great today

Becoming a seriously reliable backman. Well done Lav!

Breakout game. When he started limping I thought β€œUh-oh”, not another repeat of last yr v Crows when he started tearing em up only to sustain yet another injury.

But - surprise, surprise, played through it. Been waiting for this for so long.

Well done Lav

Very impressed with him yesterday.

Is strong, assured and does all the simple things right.

Hopefully he can continue to forge a great career down back.

that was by a absolute mile the best game of his career. and the good thing is, he’s shown constant improvement in that role since he started there. he’s becoming a very valuable player for us now, its great to see him 1 - playing well and 2 - having a extended run at it

Hurley was a great forward early in his career but crippled by injuries. Moved back and became an All Australian. Laverde showed heaps of promise early too but was constantly crippled by injury. Moved back, despite the many sceptics, and it’s proving to be a huge bonus. His game Sunday was awesome in the face of the other injuries (Ridley, Hurley, Francis etc) that have happened. I really hope that the Stewart experiment will be equally as impressive as his size and kicking skills will add a solid layer to our defence. Can’t wait to see it develop.

Laverde coming good as a defender is about the most improbable positive development story I can recall in our last 10-15 years.

Kudos to the coaches for growing a set and moving he and Stewart back.

Add Walls off the half back line in the Seconds to that list

Lav is proof as to why you draft forwards more than defenders. If they don’t make it as a forward playing defence is so much easier. Ambrose, stewart, redman, laverde all up and down forwards that have been quality in defence.
What I am liking about lav is he breaks critical tackles in d50 to get us out of trouble and his kicking isn’t as much of a concern either.

If Laverde maintains this form…he deserves to be back on a 2 year contract IMO.

He will become AA in a couple of years down back

Big call I know but he is exceptional down there

Who was that bloke on here who would just routinely berate Laverde and Langford?

Feel free to admit you were wrong about Lav.

IMO he always showed he could play. Even up forward. But his main issue has been that he just hasn’t had any continuity. Looks strong and composed down back. Get through a full season please Lav :ok_hand:

I am innocent :point_up:t2:

Quite clearly my name shows I was the first one asking for Laverde to be playing behind the ball and dishing to Langford…

Seriously, didn’t think he had that type of wear them like a glove defense in him. Love the blokes tenacity.
