#15 Jayden Laverde - π‹π’π―πžπ“›π“ͺ𝓾𝓰𝓱 𝕃𝔸𝕍 (Part 2)

He’d have some contenders for most improved. Parish the biggest one. But if Parish wins the Crichton, he probs doesn’t I guess.

Maybe this should be a poll??

He’ll be top 5 in the Crichton.

Not sure of the order but at a guess:

Merrett
Parish
Ridley
LAV
Hind

I’d be very surprised if someone else sneaks into the top 5.

Imo lav gets ahead of Ridley on the fact that he shuts down opponents. Ridley is much cleaner, but not as important as what lav has been structurally for us this season.

Is that good for a defender? Don’t they usually go at like 90%

Stringer?

I’m perfectly happy with him now spending the rest of his career in defense now that he’s found a role as best 22 (more like best 6/7) in the team. However given his obvious skills as a forward, I wonder if at some point he could do the Hooker switcheroo throw forward black glass in-case of emergency role?

Well done Lav. Rock solid down back.
Well done coaches for making the move.

(a) he’s never polled well in the past so as good as he is, he doesn’t seem to do what coaches like for Crichton votes
(b) he’s missed 4 games. The more games you play the better, the way the voting works.

I’m pretty sure all games count so people who play every game have an advantage. Happy to be corrected on that if they do something like cut the player’s 2 worst games. I’m guessing someone like @Alan_Noonan_10 or @SplitRound will know the exact voting method

Yeah fair about the games missed but I don’t think he’s polled well because of previous inconsistency. His last 10 weeks have been elite. He’s getting that consistency going.

Anyway this is the Lav thread and he’s been a revelation down back.

Its average for a key defender.

His kicking usually ends up in a clanger let’s not sugar coat it.

Just had a looks through the kickinf efficiency of our defenders, they all go at 80-84 percent by foot. Hind is the only one at 77%.

Im not sure if your saying that about Clarke or Lav but its not true for either of them.

This could be the Liam Jones moment for us. He is seriously solid down back playing on small and talls. Dare I say, I have more confidence with him on the oppositions #1 than Stewart. Easily top 5 in the B&F and 100% will win most improved.

After each game each player gets 0-5 votes from several coaches. Unlike the Brownlow or something, decent players are probably going to get votes in every game because every player can be given votes every game, so missing games makes a big difference.

Stringer is a big chance for top 5.

Yes Clarke is poor. But no I’m sure lav’s kicking has been below average.

Even the simple sideways kicks often has the teammate scrambling to mark the ball

I watch Laverde closely more than others and I love him but his disposal / decision making with ball in hand isn’t the best.

I don’t understand how anyone can not come to the same conclusion if you watch Essendon every week.

Brilliant defender, just the other part of his game needs abit of tidying up.

You said his kicking usually ends up in a clanger, he averages 8.6 kicks a game and 2.2 clangers (some of which are probably not from kicks). His kick efficiency is 80.1%. Noones saying hes the best kick, his kickings right about average for a key defender.
