#16 “OMG it’s Archie” Perkins

Perkins isn’t anywhere near as silky or nimble.

He’s better overhead though.

If we’re comparing Archie to the 2000 team, I’d say he’s closest to Blumfield. Not fit to tie Justin’s shoelaces at this point, but he is that bigger, overhead marking mid / half fwd type.

That’s a fair call.

yeah fair maybe harsh on his marking, I guess he’s just not used that as a weapon either to the point where we go yes! kicking to an Archie 1 on 1 or the oppo fel nervous about it, currently it’s just meh, might win one, and that’s probs because if he didn’t mark it he’s not likely to be re-gathering, turning the opponent inside out and jagging it through

The real problem with Perkins and a lot of our side is the fact that they behave like there are superstars off the field despite having done three fifths of f all on the field.
It’s this over inflated self worth that holds them back from becoming good to great players

My take on him based on very limited contact, he is mentally immature.

I know a few crows players and the things they say about Essendon players and their off field antics is a worry especially considering these guys are reasonably loose and not rocket scientists themselves

Archie is the most overrated Player on the list.

Must have been great to be a senior Essendon player the last 10 years.

The coach will never drop you, and the Board will always scapegoat the coach or GM for your bad performances

Archie most definitely is but overall the whole list is overrated they all have one good season then think they are stars and stop putting in the work.
Parish
Redman
Wright
Draper half a season instead

It feels like we’ve had a Machiavellian culture for a long time - lots of people agreeing but not committing, and lots of agendas / side chats. Feels like we are moving forward from that. Aligned CEO / List Manager / Coach.

Who rates him? all I’ve heard is he’s under the pump/needs to lift/at crossroads which is all correct

I have been criticised for saying this in the past, but I have seen Xavier and Dodoro out for drinks with senior players during the season.

It was the bye, but I thought it was a weird look, and probably summed up the club’s culture. Also potentially showed that Dodoro was a bit conflicted with his players

Lawry suggested he’d heard this from a coterie member, with the feeling being that Dodoro was trying to drive a wedge between Scott and the players. And I wouldn’t trust Campbell at all.
