It is classic blitz that there are still people complaining about him after he basically won us the game.
When does this crap stop? When he kicks 6 and has it 30 times?
He just kicked 3 really important goals and set up a few others in a game where we basically couldn’t move the ball after quarter time.
He was clearly best on ground in the first half. His role was to play as a deeper forward. Second half (and third quarter in particular) the ball was barely there. I think the Roos had 12 inside 50’s in a row in the third. What do people expect a deep forward to do when that’s happening?
Literally if he went further into the backline to pick up some cheap possessions he would not be doing his role.
Agree, have been critical of Perk in the past but he’s put a really solid month of football together in one of the toughest positions on the ground. He’s played defensive roles and kicked goals. If he keeps this up he’s on a really strong career trajectory.
Fair point but I do think that is the nature of being a forward particularly in our team. Of you get off the chain a kick a couple teams clamp down. I have been one that has been slightly disappointed with Archie feeling he should be doing so much more given some of his
Midfield games he has played, but actually as a pure forward he is doing pretty well.
He is kicking clutch goals and constantly kicking multiple goals. He could easily end up with 40 goals this year if he has a couple of more games like last night. I think we accept that he can be a very good mid-size forward who can lead at the ball.
He is quite similar to Langford but probably more progressed than Kyle at the same age simply because he has for on the park more.
That is fair, but i can also see the point where by our forward line may look impotent at some points if forward ala Perkins and Langford only turn up for one quarter a game.
There is probably a balance between both sides of the coin.
I was a bit ambivalent about Perkins early in the season but he’s certainly growing. Would just like to see it for longer in games.
He is his own worst enemy ATM, when he is on he is on hard to stop, challenge for him is tondo it more consistently and for longer periods throughout games.
He has his body right now and built up well as he has matured.
It’s time Perkins to deliver your potential, there is effort and there is effort. More of the second effort please
He could be a dominant midfielder or a forward take your pick but it’s up to him
Is it the high rate of gun related deaths in this city in Manila or just the sad super low socioeconomic impacts? Went to a street party there, scary as well but fun as ■■■■
Yes and no, I just feel like he has a couple of purple patches every game and then goes missing rather than giving a four full quarter effort. I used to think he could be a mid-forward but now I don’t see it anymore at the AFL level. However, for better team balance and for his own development, I wouldn’t be against the idea of putting him in the VFL to play mid full time for 6-8 weeks.
But now that Gresham and Jones are out, I’d like to see him to get more touches and get the ball i50. I’m not worried about goals, he just needs to get the ball more because he’s one of the best kicks for inside 50. That’s what we are lacking at the moment, imo.
Me thinks he’s just a bit slower than we expected maturing forward. He lacks that little bit of speed by foot and tbh by hand … the game is so fast these days and top mids are just super quick in reaction and execution. Archie is just a tad slower then the good ones. He can negate some players if asked though in a tagging role.
But what he might lack there on ball, he makes up in his kicking and clean marking… shrugging off tackles and he def has an eye for finding space … and a lead, mark and goal…
How to describe? Bloody frustrating at times but class when he’s on. I reckon he’ll be more influential as each game and season goes on. He’s a keeper.
Put it this way. We put him up for trade, there’d be no shortage of bidders.
