He's giving up footballWas told yesterday that he was accepted into the brigade selection. So riffraff maybe correct.
Patiently holding on commenting until confirmed officially.
If this turns out to be true I expect that paper to run a story like:
The much touted exodus of players from the Essendon Football Club has begun. Champion defender Taite Pairs has informed the club that he no longer wants to be at the club that put his health at risk during the 2012 performance enhancing drug cheating period overseen by disgraced coach James Hird. Instead, the corner stone of the Bombers flailing back line, Pairs, will run into burning buildings and breathe in carcinogenic fumes as a Fire-fighter.
This surely will be the start of the player exodus that has to occur. While a couple of lesser named players - who would have struggled to garner interest from other cubs - have taken up the clubs desperate offer of an extra year on their contract, the remaining players are certain to leave according to AFL insiders.
Jobe Watson is certain to retire. He was seen handing a bouquet of flowers to his mother last Sunday. A sign that he will quit football to take up a career as a florist.
Any reason for the delay in announcing his obvious retirement?
Been reading for months he’s going to the Fire Brigade and still nothing.
Seems odd.

Watch the replay and you can see Fev telling Pears “you can’t stop me” after he kicked his first goal. LOL Fev. Get rekt.
Any word on if he will play again or pull the pin?
Scott Lucas.
Any word on if he will play again or pull the pin?
@ jaycee said he is going into MFB as no guarantees if he plays another year he will get in thereafter.
Any word on if he will play again or pull the pin?
I heard he will pull the pin on a fire extinguisher
At EFC he models for the Bombershop whereas at the fire brigade he gets a calendar.

Tayte Pears has made the decision to retire after informing the Club that he believes he is no longer in a position to undertake the demands of AFL football.
The 26-year old has been placed on the Order of Merit for the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB).
Pears said the decision to retire was difficult, however pursuing a career in fire-fighting post football had been a lifelong ambition.
“The challenges of the last few years have inhibited my ability to undertake the demands of AFL football and I feel it is the right time for me to move on with the next stage of life in the best interests of my future,” Pears said.
“I really appreciate all the support I have received from my team mates, the members and supporters and wish everyone at Essendon all the best for the future.”
CEO Xavier Campbell, said Pears had taken the time he needed to consider all his options and had the full support of the Club.
“We respect Tayte’s decision to call an end to his AFL career, we are incredibly thankful for his contribution both on and off-field at Essendon and wish him all the best for the next chapter of his career,” Campbell said.
“I’d like to thank Tayte for his professionalism and contribution – he will always be welcome at the Essendon Football Club.”
Pears played 70 games during his eight seasons at the Club.
Thanks for your service tayte
Pretty sad about this one.
Tayte was a great young player before that awful run of injuries.
Best wishes to him.
One of the more unfortunate “if only” careers at Essendon.
All the best Tayte. Playing with a broken arm and ruptured pancreas for this club one of the more incredible things ive seen. One of my favourite players. Go well.
Could have been anything. Still a pup. I’m glad he’s got a good career to go into.
Was a gun before being cruelled by injury.
Thanks for your service Tayte.
