How many AFL clubs have 3 ruckmen on their AFL list?
Three questions to figure out what we mean by ruckman:
Does Wright count as a ruckman? Does Van Rooyen? Does Isaac Keeler?
Actual ruckmen not pinch hitters. Don’t know much about Freo but they run double ruck and would have an actual ruckman waiting in the wings surely
So I’d say the saints, demons, port, and suns would probably count as three ruck teams (on their list). The dockers I think have about 5.
Draper, Bryan, Wright, Visentini.
Goldstein is not needed, and his 2024 form wasn’t remotely close to justifying another year. I don’t even want to have to consider the possibility that he could represent our club at AFL level again.
If he gets another year it’s a ■■■■■■■ enormous black mark against Brad Scott’s integrity. The club doesn’t owe his mates any favours.

An absolute disgrace if he ends up with a list spot. Not required in any way, shape or form.
I have a feeling it’d be a way to spend our salary cap as we have stacks available and to rort the coaching soft cap as he’d really be there as a coach/player next season, in that order
That’s my guess/take.
But again, that would only be if we don’t land whatever deals we are working on that require list spots. Surely there’s something cooking somewhere.

Ruck coach
Can a a spot on the VFL list if he wants to keep playing.
I would prefer the extra list spot. Even if it opens one up for the SSP.

Play VFL someone gets injured elevate to playing list in MSD.

Easier to dodge the Football Department spend cap on AFL pay, than VFL pay.
Also safe guards the chances of an opposition team taking him (be it rookie or MSD) and leaving us holding our ■■■■■ looking for a specialist ruck coach which will have to go under the Football Department spend…
Would be good if we could get a few more older players to sit on the list, play majority VFL and formally become a specialist coach after a year or two.
