#18 Lewis Hayes - thru 2026

It will be what it will be. He’s young and now we knows he’s going to be a good defender. Given Ridley conundrum, that’s reassuring st least.

In his presser, Scott said they’re almost certain it’s an ACL

Farrrrrrrkkk sake this club is cursed we have to wait all this time and now this.

I’ve seen enough anyway him and Reid are the future.

Is there even such a thing as a low grade tear?
It’s a reco regardless.

(Not trying to kill your positivity, just sad)

Yes for some ligaments. But never seems to happen with ACL

Yes.
Could be managed non-operatively (well, technically even a rupture could be managed non-operatively in some instances).

He will be back next year. All the best Lewis you are now a fan favourite

His hands were so good. He had me in the first couple of minutes when he picked up the ball cleanly in heavy traffic and fired out a fantastic handball.

There are some seriously big boys in the rehab group. They’ll support each other.

Would genuinely prefer us to recycle a 23-24 year old in the hopes they come good than give Lav another year.

The football gods just don’t want us to be good. Pretty shattered for him.

Sorry should have clarified, was talking more in AFL terms.

Can’t recall a single ACL injury in the AFL that didn’t end up in a ~12 month reco. Maybe it’s a risk thing.

I know there was that nonsense with artificial ligaments for a bit (Malceski) but that never took off

ACL? Get absolutely ■■■■■■.

He looked pretty distraught during the team song. Devastated for him if it’s long term injury.

Was holding his own. Like him with the ball and without the ball

Hopefully Zach Reid has a good chat with him and shows him that it’s not the end of his dreams.

Gutted for Hayes.
We lost our structure when he went down.
Played like a 50 game player. VFL apprenticeship.

Brad was devestated in his presser

Libba Snr - ACLR & 5 months
Dale Morris - 2 partials in 2 years (opposite knees) that were managed non-operatively
Giansiracusa- partial in Dec 2007 and played round 1 2008
Tom Doedee - 2024 injury was a partial (which he had operated on)
Lincoln McCarthy - partial and surgery
Mitch Lewis - partial in Jan of 2023 & played round 7
Ainslie Kemp - AFLW returned from her second rupture without surgery

It’s definitely not as common to forego surgery for AFL players as it is for other sports.
