You won’t get a top 10 pick for Draper, I would be astonished if other clubs were going to pay him over a million a year to get band 1. It will be band 2.
Personally I’d trade Bryan as I don’t believe two rucks is the best team structure, Vigo is 19 years. He wouldn’t rot in tot vfl but he would be the second choice ruckmen when Draper is out. If you don’t trade Bryan then we would maintain the two ruck strategy and Vigo is next in line for when one of the two go out.
He would get games in either scenario, he just wouldn’t be fed to the wolves and build his game appropriately for a 19 year old ruckmen
I was sort of thinking if we lose our number one ruck and wanted to replace him with someone like Sean Darcy what draft capital would we need. I’d say a high to mid first rounder?
The two ruck strategy is just dumb, not sure Brad will ever wake up to that because it’s his thing.

The beauty of Vigo is that he’s also a very good forward.
It is exciting, a forward line involving May, Caddy and Vigo (2nd ruck/forward). I would prefer Sam to stay but it wont be world ending if he does not.
We cannot keep the 2 ruck system going, it just does not work in the modern game. There is more than enough evidence.
Are we over estimating Draper? Lots of well documented injuries, tries to do too much sometimes, kicking until this year has been unreliable at best and can be undisciplined. Are we sugarcoating too much?
Vigo (with another preseason under his belt) 2mp and Blakiston could possibly be an option going forward, Gerryn in development, that’s some versatility right there.
If decent offers come for Bryan and Draper we’d be mad to keep both.

Look at the trade Rosa did for Stringer, you just know he’ll give Draper away for a packet of chips.
The club should meet Draper’s demands and sign him up sooner rather then later

He’s improved every year on field to a point he’s probably our best contested mark, most aggressive player and probably our second best kick for goal in the forward group. What standards do you think he isn’t meeting?
Saints ended up with band1 (pick8) for Battle and as far as position goes Draper has a high value. And there are clubs obv trying to offer significant dollars to get him to leave EFC and land him for nothing as unrestricted FA
It’s pretty simple really. We should offer him whatever is enough to trigger band 1 compensation. If he stays, great. But if he goes, we get adequate compensation. I doubt very much he would leave for an offer from another club less than we are offering.
We stuffed up by not ensuring he was in the top 25% of our player payments.
The total salary cap is going up each year though, and from my understanding the compensation is centred around the percentile so that $850k that was sufficient last year will likely be under this year
