#2 - Jacob Farrow

I travel to NZ a bit as my wife is a Kiwi, I’ve found Nord VPN works very well. I can stream Kayo with it which is the main thing I use it for over there.

I’m the same, but that’s not ambidextrous. Ambidextrous is when you have no preferred right or left and are equally good (or bad) with either.

He does roost it but a lot of those kicks are still to position and usually favour his forward. Also seem to be lower and quicker through the air than an old school bomb it forward type. Has vision and intent.

Cutler was a pretty good kick. A notch below elite, but pretty good.

That’s my point in the comparison - I don’t think I ever saw Cutler kick it less than 30m. Very much a “Run 20 and kick 40” guy. That’s what I saw from Farrow. And although they can be a “good kick”, it’s not what I think when I think of good kick which is incisive 15-25m kicking a la Merrett, Martin etc.

Can I check which Martin you mean?

Because Dustin M was an elite kick, including over range. I don’t think anyone can be a truly elite kick if they can’t kick it far enough to change the shape of the defence You still need to be able to hit those short ones as well, but a 20m pass that hits a player in stride is nowhere near as effective as a 55m pass that does the same.

Talking about Nic Martin.

Of course if you can hit a 55m laser it’s better than a 25m laser, but the only guy I can remember doing that consistently was Myers. The long kicks are more often to space/to a player’s advantage but not actually picking through defenses/traffic. Handy and better than the alternative, but again not what I’m really looking for in a quote “good pick.”

Interestingly I didn’t see Myers as someone who could hit a laser over 55. He could hoof it though.

Obviously it’s a spectrum, but ideally you want so wine with both accuracy and range (obviously!!)

I wasn’t super enamoured with his HB highlights but his mid highlights … my word.

Lol…Myers kicking 55 meter lasers. If he ever did kick one then if definitely wasn’t intentional.

Us left foot kickers are always elite

I’m bat left, kick left, bowl left, throw darts left, play pool left

darts and pool a struggle since my left eye is basically cactus.

I remember someone on here, many many years ago, asked for suggestions for David Myers’ massive kicks, as they were making a compilation. No one responded, then they made the video and shared it. Everyone immediately said “where’s that massive bomb from near the centre circle that went through for a goal?” (against Port, I think) and of course the poster cracked it…“why didn’t anyone fkn tell me about that one when I asked?”

I felt bad for that poster. But how did they not know the most famous one? I still wish I suggested it.

He seems like a really nice kid, too. It’s funny you can obviously see that Sharp and Robey are genuine alpha dogs whereas Farrow comes across as more of a softly spoken guy.

Reminds me of Ridley for whatever reason.

I bat right handed and bat off left handed

That was never Cutler’s issue. The problem was… well… let’s just say, he wasn’t the hardest at the pill. Let’s call it Ben Haynes Syndrome

Cutler played some good footy when he was 50M away from any physical contact. Would have won a Brownlow if you could tackle with feather dusters.
