Why Kardinia Park?
The burning question at the moment. How much of the game could he ruck? Not sure how his match fitness would hold up, even if he does play well. I would seriously doubt it.
I recon smack will still be rucking with Stewart regardless.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. He was horribly inconsistent before the injuries, had a decent 6 week patch then got injured and suspended. He would nearly be a write off for his career now, has had no continuity for about 4 years now. He’s done

I hope you are wrong, but the sad thing is, you might be right.
We need him now and it would be unfair not to give him a chance. He was not a bad tap ruckman when fit, He was not a bad mark in the goalquare, But he cannot ruck alone. I think we all agree it would have to be a McKernan/TBell combo deal.

It would not be unfair. If he deserves a spot he deserves a spot. If not, not. As things stand it’s a not. I hope he changes that.
We are being exposed in the ruck.
Luenberger and Bellchambers are both injury prone, Smack is too small to be a true ruckman and Draper seems a fair way off.
Saw there was more talk about JoeDan having a breakout year this year, won’t happen if we continue to use him as our ■■■■■■■ backup ruckman.

With Smack doing most of the rukwork Geelong won 63 hitouts, Smack 19, Leui 5.
TBH Smack is more like a mega bodied midfielder, who by virtue of his involvement in the ruck, actually topped our clearances, but in terms of giving first use to our other mids, he was a failure.

Agree - Smack is no good in the ruck. However, Bellchambers does not have any runs on the board and basically no preseason. Playing him not ready won’t be the answer…at this point I don’t think we have any good alternatives. It will be a clear weakness until one of Bellchambers or Luey are ready.
How did he actually go in the vfl intra? How did other listed players perform?

He’s gotta play. Yes he’ll be useless around the ground, but he has a chance of giving us first use (which we won’t get from McK). We have already been getting killed at clearances in the JLT even when Leuey has been giving us service, if we get no service at all it will be a massacre.

Reckon we’re solid chance of getting massacred either way. Our stoppage setups have been “loose” to say the least during the preseason. They may not have SMitchell but they’ll still carve us the ■■■■ up in the centre square if we given them the sort time and space we’ve been affording teams during the JLT.
I failed at taking notes, but my main thought was that if Howlett is forced to play 10+ games at vfl then he’ll win the Liston. Little Heppel also looked good (although not listed). Sorry for the lack of info in general.
