#20 Jackson “Jerrett” Merrett

He's a sneaky bugger

Looked very composed. Was he playing forward at all or pure midfield in Melksham’s spot? Sometimes hard to see when only on TV.

Seemed to rotate through both.

Ripping game. Look at last year he played in most of our top wins. Creative plus

And I got ridiculed for posting that I was happy with his pre-season form. He's know spending more time in the midfield which should be his long term role. Remember practice matches are practice matches. And that Chappy,Goddard and Watson  couldn't hit the side of a barn door

His tackling has always been good. Needs to find more of it but he's not going to let you down defensively.

24 possessions ■■■■■■!

Hey I'm not the one who thought we should play Jetta instead of him

Half forward ish.
I think a lot of his touches I thought he was Stanton - shocked when I saw how many he had.
Like him though, liked him last year.

Not me. I thought they would both play, but if I was a selector I'd be picking Jackson over Jetta any day of the week. I must admit I was surprised when I saw the stats and Jackson had so much ball.

With Davey gone, Kommer and Winders injurred, and Jackson Merrett having done SFA preseason, Jetta will be a lock for R1.

You'll forgive me for reading that as "Jackson hasn't done enough, hence Jetta in"

I think he played middle a bit yesterday and when he was fwd he was pushing up.

Last quarter played predominetly on the wing! In the first half played across half forward with Benny Howlett

I also think that J.Merrett moves similar to stanton!

Was terrific, huge improvement from his pre season

In fairness the side of a barn door is TOUGH to hit, what, 4cm?

CAN PLAY.

Nah, good point Yaco. The fact that he played well in round 1, means that his preseason form magically transformed into being good.
His preseason was terrible. It just goes to show how little that means, but it doesn't change anything.
The Merrett brothers will form the base of our next midfield.

Like about 18 others in the team.

Is he eligible for the rising star this year? Would have to be in the box seat for this weeks nomination.

Nup, up to 10 games - he's played 15

I didn’t think he had that in him…yet. Looked to be at this stage a forward-pocket specialist, but worked really well up the field. That’s the kind of improvement we need if we are to go places, players like Kav, Colyer, etc have to come along as well and at a minimum put serious pressure on the guys in the side to keep their performance levels up.

shows far more than kav who I tip won't make it.
