Surely we should table an offer for Jacob Ballard’s services. Bloke was a standout for Freo’s ressies averaging 26 disposals and taking out their reserves B&F. Slower than ideal but they said that about Mitchell
Not the best standard Division 1 game today, but Balic was the one who impressed me most today. Terrific athlete that looks to use the ball forward with creativity and has more time in traffic than others. Very disappointing end to the carnival for the SA side. Thought Tahana probably played his best game of the carnival though.
I thought mason redman played well despite the oof.
Was good to see merv and the boys there doing their due diligence.

You would hope so. They are getting paid to watch these kids!
Just watching Vic C v SA and if things don't go well over the next couple of weeks, it's tanking time for Schache - the full forward for Vic C. Just kicked his 6th halfway through the 3rd and doesn't miss.Would love him, the SA blokes couldnt stop raving about him

I’ve only seen him play once, and he did very well (and kicked a bag) but I thought he needed to mark out in front than on his chest more often. He’s got a good tank for a big bloke, but he’s not going to be able to get safe separation on AFL defenders, and if he keeps taking them on the chest he’ll get spoiled a lot.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see him match up against the two best u18 defenders in the country because they were also playing for VC.
Might have to try to go along if any Dandenong/Rebels TAC games are on anywhere near me for the rest of the year.
Kieran Lovell
Farking gun!
Should easily be a top 10 pick.
This kid is a ■■■■■■ awesome player in the making, does everything really well and is dual sided, seriously could be the next Rockliff.

Hi Kieran, Hi.
Being from Hobart I’ve seen him play a few times. Already competing well against men in the TSL although his team has only won 2 games in a year and a half. Don’t be fooled by the high possession numbers. Yes he can find the ball in the contest but he picks up tons of cheap kicks as well. Also his height is a bit of an issue, not sure clubs will see a great deal of improvement left in him. Definitely not a top 10 pick, his own Mariners coach said publicly that because of his height (low 170’s) he’ll have to do everything perfectly if he’s to even be drafted. Not what you want to hear from your under 18’s coach IMO, especially not in public.
Ainsworth has been taking the ■■■■ for a bottom ager. Similar to Billings in his bottom age year it will be interesting to see how his game develops over the next 12-18 months and what role he will be playing at next years carnival. Just seems a real thoroughbred forward that could easily be playing AFL and kicking goals this year. Stupid to raise the draft age IMO. Recruiters will also be licking their lips at Petrevski-seton. Would be perfect for us if he he wasn’t a bottom ager. Will be a benfti special no doubt.
I think like last year it’ll be a pretty open field from pick 3 onwards. Different clubs will have very different looking draft boards and probably view this draft as a chance to nab a quality tall early. I’d like to see us try to upgrade our 2nd pick to give us a chance at getting a mid that may slip through if we opt for a tall first.
I love that we have our inside scouts on Blitz. Thanks fellas!
I can't give a meaningful answer to that yet - I haven't seen enough of him.My gut says I’d probably prefer Parish at this point, just because from what little I’ve seen I think Parish’s explosiveness and assertiveness mean his ceiling is higher, and because I kinda instinctually mids/talls over running defenders in general. I’d want to see more of Francis when he’s playing as a mid before I make a call on him though, cos I don’t think he’s got the size to be a real kpf at AFL level and we’re profoundly overstocked with 3rd talls already.
But that’s a very early gut reaction, and I probably shouldn’t even be offering it cos everyone’ll hang on it like it’s gospel and I may yet change my mind when I get around to seeing more of the champs replays (and the TAC finals if I can make it, though this is doubtful - I’ve had a very nasty bout of pneumonia recently and standing around in the rain at suburban footy grounds is probably one of the dumber ways I could spend my time until I’m completely recovered). I have no religious objection with taking a running defender at pick 4 if one is standout good enough, cos I’m a little more pessimistic about our list than some others, and I’m very aware we’re likely to be losing Dempsey/Bags/Gwilt over the next couple of seasons and the depth in Browne/Ashby are still very far from sure things.
Just adding the counter balance to this.
Francis to me looks like he will develop into the Hodge/Goddard and Burgouyne (in his later years) type. That kind of all-everything man that can be put where the team needs the most help at that moment.
Like Hodge and Goddard he will struggle to see out games in the midfield early on in his career but his excellent sense of the game will mean he can be damaging either off the half back flank or as a link up player at half forward.
I don’t ever see him being a KPP. He could pinch hit for sure but you don’t want him there.
Parish is also a great prospect though. Provides excellent burst away from packs and is the damaging carrying midfielder we have really lacked the last few years.
I would be happy with either based on how our team looks now but in my opinion I think Francis will end up being the better player.
First pick here we come.
First pick here we come. You mean pick 5…
Unless Melbourne win and we lose next week… then pick 4.
Not sure we have another win in us.
With Gaz back the Suns will pass us and Fark Carlton aswell probably. Will be between us and the Lions
Lions and GC will win more game than us. We’re not winning another game and Hirdy will be gone.
It’s unfair but it will happen.
First pick here we come.
Might be unpopular but if we do end up with pick one and the best player in the country is Schache, I’d look at trading a key back (probably Carlisle) if we can pull a gun mid for him. Our midfield is lacking talent and with Jobe getting older it’ll look skinny real quick. We need to be a bit more daring at the trade table.

The possibility of landing Schache is the ONLY thing to be somewhat positive about.

It’ll really suck if we finish 17th, Brisbane take Schache and we have to take the forth best player because one is a defender and the other an academy player.
Would really like Parish if we can’t Schache is the way I see it.
If we come 17th we should trade the 2nd pick to one of the teams that needs a tall, for a young on baller and a pick around 4 or 5. A kpp isn’t as valuable to us as an on baller, we could potentially get 2 high quality on ballers for that pick eg trade it to Carlton for Cripps and their first pick, GWS might give us 2 players and their pick eg Hoskins-Elliot and Buntine. We need more than one good young running player if we are going to be decent any time soon.
