Zaka becomes unstoppable in a midfield of Zerrett, Heppel, and the likes. You don’t trade a bloke that can rip teams apart with goals and possessions.

Be careful what you wish for when trading out strong club men who are also good players. Sometimes it is forced upon the club, but if it’s not then don’t go there. It will demoralise the rest of the list. After everything we’ve been through, we need to stick together where possible.

Cant see any point in trading Zaha, worth more to us. Having said that I don’t think he has ever reached his true potential, he just never seemed to take the next step. Maybe he couldn’t. Still a valuable asset to our team and hopefully will improve next year with all the others around him…
As for Kelly, apart from his on field ability I think a lot of his value is in helping the younger players reach their goals. Look and learn is still a valuable training tool. Younger players could learn a lot just from watching him play, the way he positions himself, where he runs. I wouldn’t underestimate his value.

Any chance that we'll delist Eades and then rookie him? We've obviously done it plenty of other times in recent years. He seems a long way off it especially if he's just been dropped from the VFL team. I'd certainly prefer Irish or Long on the main list instead
Irish is separate anyway.
But it could definitely happen as we have done it in previous years. Not sure they actually get delisted as such but just dropped back to rookie list on same money they on for main list.
If Eades a long way off senior footy would make sense. Would think it’s a good kick up the behind for the player as well, essentially moving them closer to out door unless they lift.

I actually think dumping Edwards will be a mistake. Some guys take a bit longer to mature. His form in the reserves in the last 6 weeks has been good. He provides real speed n X factor. I hope we keep him.

If we were to delist Ashby, Dempsey, Edwards, Kommer, McKernan and Gwilt, in my book the stiffest would be Gwilt.

I would leave Long on the rookie list. Still raw and no need to promote yet.
I think after his Crichton count there’s a good chance we enlist Kelly. Not totally against it but probably not a wise move given we’re not in the window next year and we need to continue blooding younger players.

Heavy tags brought Zaka down in his possession rate, not his work rate. He is a gun outside mid, and very likely not going to be tagged at all next year. Look for 25-30 possession, 2-3 goal games on the regular next year.
