2016 fixture discussion

I personally hope once again the crowds for all teams are driven further into the ground. The league is a joke.

Two Friday night games? For the highest television rating club in the comp?

This is a ■■■■■■■ joke.

Nine Sunday games???

Things you can guarantee in the fixture every year

  • Playing Port Adelaide just once and it’s away
  • Playing Sydney just once and it’s away
  • Playing Freo just once and it’s away
  • Playing Melb at the G but Hawthorn at Etihad

At least there’s also the positive guarantees

  • Playing Collingwood on ANZAC day
  • Playing Richmond at Dreamtime game

And it’s great this year that we play Fark Carlton twice. Would love to belt them both times!

4 x Sunday afternoon 5 x Sunday twilight 1 x TBA

That TBA will be a Sunday as Fark Carlton and us wont be playing finals.

Crowds will plummet with 10 Sunday arvo/twilight games.

I’m fed up with this ■■■■. Three ■■■■■■■ years.

We need a Blitz think tank: What can Essendon supporters to hurt the AFL without hurting the club?

Can someone explain to me why the hate for Sunday twilight games?

We played both Port and A delaide once last year, both at home. We also played the Dawks at home at the 'G Round 2 last year as well. But I agree, the Freo away and Dees home at the 'G every year is not ideal…

for comparisons sake -

pies play sydeny, lions, eagle, giants and crows away. - 5 interstate 1 perth 1 adelaide

blues play, suns, freo, giants, lions, swans - 5 interstate 1 perth 0 adelaide

saints play port eagles crows GC - 4 interstate 1 perth 1 adelaide

dees play GC eagles sydney port (excluding their darwin home match) - 4 interstate 1 perth 1 adelaide

cats play giants port crows freo lions - 5 interstate 1 perth 1 adelaide

norf play lions gc sydney crows eagles (excluding their tassie home match) - 5 interstate 1 perth 1 adelaide

hawks play lions giants port sydney eagles - 5 interstate 1 perth 1 adelaide

dogs play giants port sydney freo - 4 interstate 1 perth 0 adelaide

if you were under any illusion that we get a fair go in this draft i hope i just destroyed it.

Possibly 8 of last 10 games on Sunday. That’s what we get for being a bottom feeder. Crowds will be rubbish this year.

Can someone explain to me why the hate for Sunday twilight games?
Because they are ■■■■ and you don't get home until 8:30 at best which is a pain if you have kids. Also ■■■■ you up because by the time you get home its too late for dinner and yoh can't exactly have your dinner early.
Fixture is good from some perspectives.

The fact that out of the 2015 finals teams, the one we meet twice is Richmond is a great start. To that end it is a softer draw than we have had for some time…and rightly so given our 2015 ladder position.

I don’t mind playing Hawthorn at Etihad - as a rule they don’t play well against us at the ground so that could be vital in beating them there.

The 6 interstate trips - great for non-Victorian members of the Bomber faithful.

It’s the sort of fixturing that should see us play in the finals IMHO.

Have to disagree there. Ok, I’m cluthcing at straws a little but since 2008, we’ve won just 1 out of 5 at Etihad yet 3 of 6 at the G. We’ve lost by an average of 38 at the G but 51 at Etihad.

As you can see I’m a stats junkie, but haven’t got around to dismissing this idea that we prefer Etihad over the MCG. Since the end of our last great competitive era (1998-2004), I don’t think our record at Etihad is anywhere near what is believed to be.

And you can't get on the ■■■■ because you have work in the morning.

our membership slogan should be - “under the jackboot since 2013”

I personally don't mind our fixture but reckon the club will be disappointed. I reckon our crowd figure will drop significantly with so many games at 3:20 and 4:40.

Very ordinary times when you have young families.

But it works for me.

I can see how this would be bad for some familys but its great for me, my 3 and 5 year olds just can’t go to the nighttime games, they are asleep for it all if we do. Now with all these day games they can go to the game and then go home for bed, meaning we can actually buy a family membership this year for the first time ever and all go! I am super pumped! I personally don’t like day games, but i’m happy to take it on the chin to go with my kiddies.

The bye between Round 23 and finals is great news for the VFL/SANFL/WAFL and local leagues, due to their finals being on that weekend. Expect bigger attendances across the board.

Rather make finals cause we’re good as opposed to an easy draw.

Twilight games are ■■■■.

The club offer a home membership with reserved seat at Etihad but with this fixture there won’t be any point, probably get to about 2 home games at Etihad.

Oh. So day time games are best but not twilight, if you have kids? I attend all games here in Melbourne and there are equally the same number of kids day or night… or so it seems.

Why are Adelaide games somehow worse than Sydney or Brisbane games? Perth I get, but Brisbane’s a longer trip to as bad or worse conditions than Adelaide surely?
