2016 fixture discussion

I'm fed up with this ■■■■. Three ■■■■■■■ years.

We need a Blitz think tank: What can Essendon supporters to hurt the AFL without hurting the club?

that’s the sad part, you can’t. they have you by the emotional balls and there’s nothing you can do to one that doesn’t hurt the other.

TBH re the draw meh, if we make finals and are a contender will anyone ultimately care ?

Also hawthorn travelled 3 times to perth in the space of what 6 weeks and still won a flag at the back end of the season ?
I’m not saying we’ll do what they did, however a fixture is merely that to teams who don’t care who or where they play, as long as they play to win, ■■■■ any outside influences.

Can anyone remember the last time Essendon played Melbourne twice in a season (other than 2000 due to the GF)?

Ok, for what its worth - I was wrong. Since start of 2008, we’ve won 47% games at Etihad and 44% at the G. Varies a bit between seasons too - some seasons we’re much better on the G, other seasons better at Etihad. Think that shows how much of the game is played above the shoulders.

■■■■■■ terrible!!! Swans in Sydney again, what the f-ck is going on!!!

And at ANZ too
We haven’t won there since first AFL match post Olympics when Ricky Mott sprayed one from in front
As a Sydney Bomber I’m sick of the annual reaming from the maggots we get up here
And now no Adam Goodes to boo WTF!!

for comparisons sake -

pies play sydeny, lions, eagle, giants and crows away. - 5 interstate 1 perth 1 adelaide

blues play, suns, freo, giants, lions, swans - 5 interstate 1 perth 0 adelaide

saints play port eagles crows GC - 4 interstate 1 perth 1 adelaide

dees play GC eagles sydney port (excluding their darwin home match) - 4 interstate 1 perth 1 adelaide

cats play giants port crows freo lions - 5 interstate 1 perth 1 adelaide

norf play lions gc sydney crows eagles (excluding their tassie home match) - 5 interstate 1 perth 1 adelaide

tigers play eagles freo port giants syndey - 5 interstate 2 perth 1 adelaide

hawks play lions giants port sydney eagles - 5 interstate 1 perth 1 adelaide

dogs play giants port sydney freo - 4 interstate 1 perth 0 adelaide

if you were under any illusion that we get a fair go in this draft i hope i just destroyed it.

Why are Adelaide games somehow worse than Sydney or Brisbane games? Perth I get, but Brisbane’s a longer trip to as bad or worse conditions than Adelaide surely?

more hostile atmosphere, relative strength of the teams. would you rather play eagles, crows, port and freo away or GC, lions and giants

Can someone explain to me why the hate for Sunday twilight games?
Because they are ■■■■ and you don't get home until 8:30 at best which is a pain if you have kids. Also ■■■■ you up because by the time you get home its too late for dinner and yoh can't exactly have your dinner early.

Also ■■■■ as you cant fly in for sunday twilight game unless you get accommodation and fly back Monday morning. basically rules all those games out.
Sunday 2.10 is doable.

Since 2002, 12-6 in Sydney’s favour. Come on AFL - play fair. Over a ten year period, you’d like to think it would even out over that time - oh that’s right, Sydney is their ‘darling club’.

And since 2000, just SEVEN games in Melbourne against the Swans. Only 7. The Swans have had 15.

Oh, ok. I thought it was a complaint about the rigours of travel, not the opponents.

Anyone have access to 2015 draw to compare how the 15th placed team in 2014 compared to our 2015 finish and 2016 draw…

I bet it doesn’t even go close!

and don’t forget an interstate NAb fixture!

Agree wholeheartedly. Absolute POX time. As bad as those Sunday night games…Pox on Gil & his retards

Good teams don’t whinge about the draw.

Which I guess is why we’re whinging

Fair dinkum - we get the easiest draw we’ve had in ages and people still want to complain.

We play one team from last year’s 8 twice and that is Richmond. You can’t get much easier than that.

And I have no idea why people would rather we play WCE or Freo at home over playing a team like SK or Carl twice. Give me the latter option every day of the week please.

One of the journos (I think its Rohan Connolly) does a fixture scorecard a few days after it is released, that allocates points for opponent, venue, 6 day breaks etc. It will be interesting to see where we end up. Allegedly the AFL fixture is one of the harder ones to draw up in professional sport internationally (well so the AFL say), but even so I’d be surprised if we are in the top 4 as far as “easiest” fixtures is concerned.

2005, played them in Round 1 and Round 22, both at the MCG and lost them both.

It very much proves that we are still the dogshit on the underside of the AFL’s shoes. If the AFL is suggesting we have less Ch7 games due to our ladder position then we must also get a soft draw. A soft draw does not include more interstate games than any other team. Above all they are prepared to cut off their nose to spite their face by having only 10 Ch7 games to one of the top 2 clubs from an audience perspective.

From an EFC membership perspective, it’s very ordinary as well. Most people with a family will struggle with the Sunday late timeslot. It’s certainly the case for my family. Pretty disappointing. overall.

Man, they had to play in Brisbane way more than we do. Stop complaining you lot.

To put the whinging into context.
We play interstate 6 times. The fewest is 5.

Nth play interstate 8 times, have 8 six day breaks and play Hawthorn, Sydney, Adelaide and the Bulldogs twice.

I’d hate to see the wrist slashing on here if we had that draw.

10 free to air games!

Fark off!

will we still split the gate for ANZAC day?
