Look, he seems like a pretty likeable guy, and I understand it would not be easy to simply come out and say “nup, sorry AFL, can’t accept that Medal”.
Alls im saying that given the rules at the time, he was lucky to play in that GF '17 (Tigers still would have won).
He had incurred 2 Fines throughout the year for minor offences, a 3rd offence should have been issued and an automatic 1 week suspension.
Dylan was rendered concussed and could not continue playing in that game after qtr time, and has expressed disappointment about the incident.
The AFL were too weak to pursue it because they didn’t want to taint Grand Final Week.
They’re always about ‘The Brand’.
It sickens me.
I hope someone takes him out of the game (not seriously injured), and the Tigers lose narrowly.
KARMA
Michael Longs hit on Symonds was a high point. Symonds had the ball and Long charged in to tackle, no raised elbow, no fist, just body contact; that Melbourne fool should not have ducked his head.
Long’s performance in the 2000 grand fiinal is so underrated. I think he had almost the same impact he had in the 1993 grand final with clever taps to advantage that resulted in numerous goals early in the game. He just wasn’t as flashy, but he was as important.
It full cuts me deep to see Richmond make another granny and possibly winning it 2 outta 3 years when we be doing ■■■■ all for almost 2 decades. I envy supporters that get to enjoy their clubs weeks leading up to the granny. I didnt get to enjoy this as much during the 2000s as I was too young to appreciate it. ■■■■■.
A few low acts? To win a game of footy?
Fortunately players of today know the ramifications of this type of ‘act’ and it’s why we very rarely, if ever, see it.
That brings up a good point that cause players don’t run through others like they used to guys like mummy, with the sling, and Toby, with something different each week, look for other ways.
Yep, you can’t belt anyone straight out anymore but plenty of other ways. I’d expect Mummy to be jumping knees first into Soldo or Nanks ribs all day and maybe dish out a couple of accidental corkies.
He also loves a sling tackle
