2021 Draft Watch

Picks made out of fairy points. So the extra pick given to Gold Coast due to their woes, and extra picks from free agent compensation.

Free agency compo picks

I’m pretty sure they had 4-5 guys doing the picks for the teams as if it was draft night so this Dan bloke is saying he thinks he is a top 10 pick but the others didn’t.

When they show players taking plenty of marks, but not their disposal…… I get abit suss.

Edit: you’d say that Erasmus is an Archie Perkins type?

whys north got a horne interview on their youtube page before hes been drafted?

He isn’t as dynamic as Perkins but has a much higher workrate and a more consistent overhead threat. Erasmus’s kicking isn’t his strong suit, sene him play one game where his kicking was immaculate and another where it was inconsistent. The game with the commentary in those highlights was windy as all hell and not many kicks where ideal for anyone.

Highlights only but seemed to lower the eyes and see the field pretty well.

My profile on Josh Gibcus, not one for us but yeah just thought I’d share.

The thing I like about Erasmus is he can break a tackle. Apart from stringer we certainly lack in that area. Thinking back to the elimination final, the dogs had multiple players breaking tackles and getting kicks away. Sure his kicking needs a bit of work, but that can be taught. He has all the other tools to be a great player and adds something different to our midfield. I’ll be crossing my fingers the WA teams pass on him and we take him.

Yep kicks goals on both feet.

That’s all I need to hear.

If he’s not taken we should grab him in a heart beat.

Edit. Barracks for Carlton.

Why not? With the number 1 pick save Daicos and Darcy they can pop anyone they like up for an interview.

Erasmus has a little bit of Justin Blumfield about him. Love the idea of a strong marking mid to add to the group.

My superficial/uninformed/short-cut assessments:

  • Erasmus offers what we were seeking with Dunkley, whilst saving a second rounder.
  • Murley reminds me of Fantasia.

Are there any talented kids who are unlikely to get drafted due to injury?

Wondering if we can do a Lauchy Johnson trick again. Draft a kid with our last pick and then put him on the inactive list immediately. Open that spot back up for the rookie draft.

Always injured?

Really interested to see whether this guy slips through to. Are there 1-2 players you’d compare him to? And do you think he’d be a good fit for us if he’s there?

Didn’t really work did it? We spent time and money rehabbing his knee to then delist him a year later

That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try it again. Do it 5 times and we only get a player on the 5th try, I’d call that a massive success.
