I would have thought analysing how the recruiting team would have self rated their draft and trade period and how it matched up to their goals prior would have been a suitable topic in a thread called ‘2021 draft watch’.
Analysing something you (plural) have no idea about is like peeing into the wind. You have no idea what their aims were going into the draft (newspaper writeups and bland PR statements aside), you don’t know the strategy the coaches and staff have put in place, the type of players they were looking for, the draft picks they really thought they would have, the players they had penciled in with each pick they did have. Then you would also have no idea what their thoughts were after the period (again newspaper/PR writeups aside).
What you (singular) are really doing is grading them yourself based on your own biased viewpoint of what you wanted.
Anyway, this is now boring, heading off to watch the equally boring The Beatles: Get Back, a Peter Jackson 15 year long movie with every sneeze and sniffle.
Let’s shut this forum down because IceTemple thinks people can’t analyse things to do with their footy club.
Stop bullying people who post their opinions.
For what it’s worth, I think it’s a perfectly reasonable topic of discussion.
Is there any mention how Lord is on the defensive side? Even Dodoro mentions playing him as a defensive forward, but does Lord tackle much or provide much with pressure acts?
aceman (blitz norwood rep) said very goood the other day.
swapped from Palmerston to St Marys this off-season. Spent a little bit of time in the SANFL this year just gone.
Played in the 2’s for South Adelaide and did ok from what I can gather, no idea why he seemed to play every couple of games.
We do have an idea about it though. Last year they wanted to bring in as much high end young talent as possible over consecutive years. This year we only brought in hobbs and that’s about it.
This year they either stated or it was obvious that they wanted the following:
- bring in Bobby hill
- get into the second round
- trade up to a higher pick
- get arlo draper with our second pick.
A lot may have been out of their control, but that doesnt mean it wasn’t disappointing for the recruiting team, especially in comparison to the past few years. Also it doesn’t mean when initially analysing it, we can’t discuss it on a 2021 trade watch thread. We know in a few years time nobody is going to bother digging this up again, so it’s common sense to discuss it in the now, just like we celebrated the years we exceeded our pre recruiting period goals… Anyhow enjoy the movie.
Thanks Ben.
Any reason he hasn’t been picked up by anyone?
Ironic.
You said you were analysing how the recruiters would have self-rated themselves.
You wouldn’t have a clue how they would have self-rated themselves. For all of the reasons explained by @IceTemple.
You’re just giving your opinion of how they went.
Don’t dress it up as something else.
Fourth-hand impression i got was that he gave it his all to move up to an AFL career in the year he trained with us, when we didn’t take him he may have given up on the idea of AFL.
Yes small forward but he’s around 180cms so not as small as some.
Don’t risk consigning us to another 20 years of mediocrity
Nope
As I said in the previous post the ones they were confident enough to state publically to their stakeholders were not achieved. In any workplace in the world that would provide a level of disappointment. I’d love to work with you guys though, I’m sure you are at the top of your field with that mindset. Also yes of course i believe it was our least successful off season in the past 5, because they didn’t meet their stated objectives.
why was this obvious?
edit, Sorry aboods meant to quote Bully’s original post.
Can someone please post the clip of dodoro when draper was selected again.
was after our pick, and personally I believe it more to do with Jones than Draper
So are you saying dodoro looked disappointed? Because apparently the suggestion there would be some disappointment in the recruiting team is the most outrageous statement on the forum at the moment.
