2021 Mid Season Draft

First time I’ve seen him and I was genuinely shocked at his foot skills… terrible. Sample size of 1 game, so maybe he just had an off day, but based on yesterdays game I’d be steering clear.

He seemed to get a lot cheap possessions in the backline, but to his credit he was everywhere and obviously has a huge work rate. I noticed a few times he cracked the sads when he wasn’t used.

I only saw the last 10 mins, and he did crack the sands in that 10 mins.

There is a list of the 300 names that have nominated via the Herald Sun…is there a way we can view these?

Freeman would still help the VFL side. but if kicking is not there unlikely to get games at AFL level. (hasn’t nominated yet)

Former AFL players to have already applied for the Mid-Season Draft:

Ben Crocker
Patrick McCartin
Wylie Buzza
Luke Partington
Ben Silvagni
Josh (Fridge) Begley
Darcy Lang
Harrison Macreadie
Kym LeBois
Declan Mountford
Ryley Stoddart
Toby Wooller
Michael Knoll

Crocker turned 24 in Feb and has kicked 16 goals in 4 games at VFL level so far this year. We also have SFA small forward depth.

Looks like he struggled to have an impact at Adelaide last year but that was under some pretty unusual circumstances.

AFL mid-season draft: More than 300 players nominate, including premiership defender

One-hundred VFL players are among more than 300 who have put their hand up for the AFL’s mid-season draft.

Nominations opened on Monday, May 10 and close on Tuesday, May 25, and players from all around the country and even local leagues have presented as candidates.

As of last Friday, exactly 100 players from the VFL – which takes in teams from Victoria, NSW and Queensland – had nominated.

But Frankston’s Nathan Freeman – who has collected more than 40 possessions in four of his five matches this season – was a notable name missing from the list.

The former Collingwood and St Kilda wingman had 42 disposals in Frankston’s loss to Essendon at Windy Hill on Sunday.

Joel Hamling and Fletcher Roberts (right) after playing in the Bulldogs premiership.

The nominations include:

Emerging Werribee forward Hudson Garoni, an ex-Murray Bushranger who kicked five goals against Box Hill Hawks in Round 5 and four against Richmond in Round 4;

• Garoni’s teammate Wylie Buzza, who is seeking a third AFL listing after stints at Geelong and Port Adelaide;

• Western Bulldogs 2016 premiership defender Fletcher Roberts, now at Port Melbourne;

• Former Giant and Kangaroo Paul Ahern, who has been impressive for the Northern Bullants in the early exchanges of the season;

• Frankston’s Josh Begley, the former Essendon forward who booted six goals for the Dolphins in Round 1;

• Former No.1 draft pick Paddy McCartin, trying to resurrect his career with the Sydney Swans;

• Carlton’s former Magpie and Crow Ben Crocker, who kicked four goals and had 17 disposals against Footscray in Round 4;

• Coburg pair Sam Lowson and Marcus Lentini; and

• Former Sydney Swan Zac Foot, now playing well at Casey Demons.

Coburg’s Marcus Lentini.

Dandenong Stingrays 19-year-old players Will Bravo, who trained at Hawthorn ahead of the season, and Clayton Gay have also nominated, as have WAFL stars Sam Fisher and Haiden Schloithe, both Sandover Medal winners.

The mid-season draft will be held on Wednesday, June 2.

WAFL star Haiden Schloithe.

Crocker plays a similar game to Begley, as an undersized FF, those types tend to dominate in the lower grades but struggle to make the step up in the AFL.

Crocker is also an idiot

Thought he was the one at geelong, but he hasnt been delisted, so must be another with the same name

He has some toe

We could have 2 blokes on the list with the same name lol.

lol what a grub

I still rate Begley and WSPHU, fite me irl

How has Nigel been going this year?

I would consider at least one of these guys

We can’t pick him up, fortunately.

Hayden Sampson has been ripping form
Avg 21 disposals at 94%
178cm 21yr

Yeah fair enough. He strikes me as being much quicker and more agile at ground level than Begley but I have no idea what he’s like off-field.

I feel like that Hayden Schloithe will be getting mentioned in these types of threads until he’s 80.
Every year :sweat_smile:

Just whatever we do don’t draft Schloithe.

The subsequent spelling carnage on Blitz doesn’t bear thinking about.

I believe it’s pronounced Sloth.
