Does this mean we just use later picks if Davey is bid on say at 39? If this happens are we at risk of not having enough spots for Munkara?

We have room on the list for 2 Daveys + 1 draft selection + Munkara.

And no room for SSP unless we take George and list hm Inactive, or someone does a season-ender pre-season.

I do wonder now that we have a bunch more small/med forwards on the list (I’d probably still have Perkins listed there for the moment), whether that changes where we play the young mids that we want to put games into. It doesn’t change the depth chart per se, but if we don’t have room in the midfield, maybe Tsatas gets jammed into the back line instead of the forward line. Long term it doesn’t affect our small/med defender depth but it could be a couple of years back there instead of the Parish/Hobbs forward pocket.

I think they’ll be playing more VFL.

Meh. Between Wanganeen, Daveys, Menzie and hopefully Munkara, we’re looking pretty good for small forward types. Even with A Davey being more HF/Wing.

Who’s in the mix after that: Alwyn Davey Jnr, Noah Long, Coby Burgiel, Bailey Macdonald, Anthony Munkara, Rhett Montgomerie, Jayden Davey

Ideally, the Bombers take another player at 25 before a bid comes for the talented Davey Jnr, with the class and speed of Burgiel in the mix, while ready-made WA prospect Hewett would be considered if he slides. As skilful as just about anyone in the pool, some believe there is little chance NGA prospect Munkara gets to pick 40, where the Bombers get access to him. Others believe he could get through to the rookie draft. Essendon has shown some interest in SA ball-magnet Adam D’Aloia, while mature-age Central District defender Rhett Montgomerie has also caught the club’s attention. Look for Essendon to be involved in a live trade, in order to get the most out of its second pick before it gets swallowed up by the Davey Jnr bid with the Dees and Bulldogs making a big play.

I don’t really place much stock in a cat B Irishman in McBride who hasn’t shown much more than glimpses. And I think we need to shore up things for the future in terms of defenders of actual key position height and eventually move past Lav. Anyway, I won’t be outraged if we don’t pick one up, particular if Hayes is off the board. Just reckon it’s worth consideration.

Given Barnett is both a potential ruck and key defender, if we got him he’d satisfy both of us in respect of needs.
