2022 R2 Review vs Lions

Well it was a better contest than I thought it would be.

Copped more injuries though.

The fact we were up by a couple of goals and couldnā€™t get the job done is worse than last week imo

Essendon love to give us hope and then crush it

James Stewart is a better actor than a footballer.

Anyone saying that was a respectable performance get in the bin.

Seriously after 1/4 time it was as bad as last week.

Frustrating but better than last week. We wonā€™t finish bottom 4 but best case scenario is another EF belting. List and the way we play just isnā€™t enough to really trouble decent sides

Glad Iā€™m not the only one who thinks that

Dods just needs more time to build the listā€¦ a competitive list takes three decades not two you impatient numpties

Ruttenā€™s another deer in the headlights coach, ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  over Tex too

You need to watch last weeks game again clearly

Play like this and we will win most weeks.

The difference today? And what needs to improve to beat the top sides.

  1. Set shot goal kicking (fixable)
  2. Dumb football that coughed up goals - Stewart x 3, Redman, Hind x2 (fixable)
  3. Fumbles - Hind, Cutler, Merrett, Ham (fixable)
  4. Series of soft free kicks to Brisbane in 3rd Q

56 to 52 Inside 50ā€™s is a good sign.
Impressed with the progression of our young blokes - Caldwell, Draper, Perkins, Durham, Cox (much better this week)
Not so impressed with some of our older blokes - Stewart, Heppell, Hind, Smith (started well but dissappeared)

We allowed Zorko to play on one leg. We should have been into him and running off him at every opportunity. Iā€™m not sure if Truck is up to this game day coaching thingā€¦

Would be happy for all to be dropped.
would consider Stewart tried as a forward again. as the cupboard is a bit bare.

AFL players and they canā€™t even kick a goal. Cutler trying to pass when he marks from 40 metres out. Gee we make some dumb decisions on the field. Was an improvement on last week but we have alot to work on. James Stewart please never again.

The intent was better than last week but we play dumb football and have ā– ā– ā– ā–  skills.

  • that ā€œeffortā€ from Stewart was a joke, it pretty much ended the match
  • Smith and Heppel are finished
  • Ham, why on earth are we still going there
  • constant stupidity of little handballs and giving it off when you should just have a ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  shot. Unless someone is 100% by themselves, and theyā€™re in range, why the ā– ā– ā– ā–  donā€™t they go for it? Hell, even a point can come in handy. Itā€™s truly infuriating.
  • I didnā€™t realise the afl ā– ā– ā– ā–  show brought back that stupid sub rule, they completely jibbed Tex
  • kicking on goals is ā– ā– ā– ā– , even indoors ffs.
  • a familiar theme over the years has been the opposition just waltzing out of our 50. We donā€™t do ā– ā– ā– ā–  defensively to keep it in there.
  • once other sides get a run on thatā€™s it.
  • we are cooked for the year, too many injuries. The cycle keeps repeating itself.

Only positives were 2MP, Perkins and Caldwell. I also cooked a nice, medium rare scotch fillet. EFC, why am I choosing to die on this hill??

Players gave it their all for 4 qtrs

In the end we were beaten by

A better team
Our own poor goal kicking
Awful turnovers in critical errors

Also GFY Joe, all that money you get and you still canā€™t fix your teeth

who said people could show up with dot points?

Stewart shouldnā€™t play again this year (or ever) after his effort on the goal line today. Imagine Fletcher ever doing that!
