After we gave up pick 5.
Bargain.
Dodoro the masterâŚbater
Miles Bergman?
The dockers got Brodie and pick 19 for a future second round pick, which could be at best pick 19. Hard to know what that is if not dumping a contract.
Cleary saying weâve met with Stocker.
Who is at the Giants who we could take in a Brodie-type âplayer and a pickâ for salary cap relief? It seems like unlike GCS who had paid overs to many players to keep them around after their first contract the Giants have paid a few stars a kings ransom to keep them from leaving and now donât have the ability to offload them because they have built their team around them.
Would they be up for offloading Haynes and Ward? Both would bring some much needed leadership for a year or two, even if they are cooked / playing a position we are well stocked for. Ward might be a decent option for a coaching position plus 1-year playing VFL. Haynes would be an upgrade on Kelly.
How they got him for a bargain in salary dump and at best we get steak knives for a dumpâŚ
Jeez Dodoro is a gunâŚ
We wont get anyone of value. Itâs Essendon and Dodoro
Would have thought Hopper and Taranto alone would free up plenty for them.
He did get a guy who just kicked 50 goals for us for a 4th round pick, and is still being paid by his former club.
Definitely. Though wouldnât be surprised if they dumped someone for nothing early in the trade period which would then allow them to play hardball on Taranto and particularly on Hopper.
Thatâs a good point.
Take the leverage out of it.
We have plenty of space to help them out.
Dodoro
Thatâs exactly what happened with Scully and Setterfield in 2018 for Shiel.
I doubt it tbh, they were probably both on 600k which frees up a fair bit, but there were reports that they were about 1mill over the cap for next year. Theyâll still need to re-sign Green in the next few years which wonât be cheap.
I wouldnât be surprised if they were in a similar position with a tight TPP in 12 months.
Guess it can pay off being cashed up bogans
These are the only types that we will be able to attract, which isnât a terrible thing tbh, low risk potentially high reward.
Also we still need to free up quite a few spots if we want to start taking swings on delisted guys.
Who else is there on anything substantial theyâd shed?
He wouldnât be on much but Iâd throw Ward some biscuits for his leadership and toughness.
But that isnât a desirable outcome. Everyone thinks GCâs list management was nuts. Brodie and Wright are hardly evidence itâs ok to sign long contracts because you can dump players at little cost.
