2022 trade speculation (Part 2)

We don’t need to be that bad for the next 5 years.
If we turn things around with the new coach and put in a solid performance next year, don’t need to be show stoppers just really showing signs of progression, then the stability and promise that creates will open the doors to greater trade or FA opportunity.

I would think in 2-3 years we could start looking pretty sharp.

I look at our list and age profile. We are a minimum of 5 years away.

Exactly. It’s poor management of the list.

We’re fine. This is all a blessing in disguise. No longer will we fill our list with average, overpaid potential. We will have a clear football program and plan that will be upheld for the next few years. No more shortcuts.

And ■■■■■■■ no more ■■■■■■■ Adrian Dodoro

Just a flow on effect from historic contexts combined with the current young list situation.

Mismanagement, yes. But that list management problem occured years ago, it’s not recent.

Or is this an anti-Dodo argument?

We had zero chance to have the list balanced, zero. No team loses that many so quick

Smith was 28 or 29 as well.

We seem to do it every 4 years.

To be fair, we couldnt possibly have foreseen that Tippa would retire so early.
Clearly, would have been on 600+.
Smith also an early retirement though far less money.

Losing the salaries of all of JD, Raz, Saad and McKenna in 1 off season was always going to result in this.

If we manage to somehow BUY Pick 7 with all this Cap space, you may be singing a different tune.

So you expect that we won’t add some top end talent prior to 5 years?
Now and next year we hit the draft for high end top talent.
We start getting some more improvement from our 2020-2021 recruits, draft PSD & MSD.
Conor is now going to want to come back to us.
We turn Francis into. Gun.
The forward trajectory starts looking attractive.
Good Coach, better development, improved performances clear progression, Marquee Games.
We will get willing and able Top End talent coming to us.

This is a New Dawn.

Richmond offered two firsts and i believe adelaide had offered 3 firsts. I was into my north mate at the time saying youd be silly to not take the 3 firsts!

Paddy Dow exploring his options. We should 100% give this a crack if we can get him for cheap. With some love I feel like he might be able to blossom. If nothing else he would be great depth for our list.

Does Carlton have a salary cap 7 years for McKay bloody hell

Curnow
McKay
Cripps
Walsh

All on massive contracts surley their cap is buldging and not much money to sign up their up coming guns

Interesting, earlier Dow said he wanted to stay and fight for his spot, Imagine blues want $$ off the cap.

It’s not just a dig at Dodoro. It tells you alot about where the club is at.

When there are players walking out at mass. We haven’t attracted anyone to replace them. And we have players retiring prematurely.

That’s just a poorly run club.

As I said in my original post, $3 million hole is not a showcase of great list management.

Is this a possibility? Either way, I don’t really care about Conor because he is such an unknown factor at this point.

The 2020 off season rarely happens, sweeping changes.

Hence when I said, it’s not a case of ‘great list management’
