dodo was doing everything in his power to give the dogs what they wanted, and they still wouldn’t do the deal with him.
he may or may not be hard to deal with (to varying degrees) or maybe it’s as simply as other clubs just don’t like him and just dont’ want to work with him, which ultimately ends up hurting us in the long run.

that’s why I wasn’t against trading parish or shiel out, it’s the easiest way to solve the issue. instead now there’s a high change essendon do the essendon thing and bumble around with it trying to force it to work cos they dont’ want to hurt anyones feelings.
like heading into last preseason everyone was buoyed by the potential of the upcoming season cos you know.
my 2 biggest areas of worry were
the midfield balance
senior players (namely smith and shiel and to a lesser extent hepp) all getting games based on rep alone.
I’ve said it before and i use the quote from band of brothers to sum it up. it’s not that they make a good call or a bad call it’s that they make no call on these issues and hope things work out, despite all the previous evidence it wont.
now going into next year have the same worry about midfield. hepp has moved into the smith role (people actually think he’ll spend most of the season in the 2’s 
) and hind and stewart have moved into the senior boys club getting games on perceived rep, not even previous rep.
and now we have a new coach we hope sees and learns this quickly, while slowly being dropped into the quagmire of despair that is the EFC coaching halls.

that would fit into my theory that the club (and people) don’t want to make a decision on the issue, just hope/assume/ it resolves itself (in this instance an injury/ies to solve it for x amount of time).
again it’s the lack of making a decision that is the problem.
for example what are you worried about happening if we as an example trade shiel out this year and parish got injured next year ?
are you worried about starting the season 2-8 ? 2-10 ?
not making finals ?
scrapping into finals then getting belted ?
all those things have happened while not making a decision and hoping it all resolves itself.
can’t threaten to go through PSD though.
