With Ashcroft and Dunkley in, who’s midfield spot is Bailey getting?

Cam Rayner… will should get him in

Nice fantasy and all, but he’s contracted for 3 more years and Lions have said he’s not going anywhere.

Bailey was 7th in line at brisbane for CBAs this year, seems unlikely he will be a fixture in there with Dunkley coming in.

Was being mildly sarcastic but thanks for playing

The panthers winning has nothing to do with draft picks they have access to unlimited junior talent from the biggest junior league in the world

Either that or francis at sydney lol

We have ridley who is has not allowed francis to play in his prefered possition.

Carlton similar with settafeild.

Once played in there best possitions both could shine.

Tbh i with them both well.

and thus this is the dodo thinking. you have to “win” the situation to be relevant and if you don’t win it it’s not worth it.

it’s also a continuation of the thinking “we’ve spent a long time, money and picks making this mistake, lets stick to it” just cos.

We don’t “need” a mother of all deals that “comes close” to covering the outlay that was initially outlayed for him.

What we “need” is to not be bogged down in the thinking that the past decisions of the club and specific people at the club has to be a noose around it moving forward.

that midfield group will no doubt improve. the only difference is
in your view it can’t improve without shiel, or it improves cos shiel is there
mine is it will improve whether shiel is there or not

His worth keeping for the standards he sets. Parish would demand a much higher draft pick. He is the that id have on the table, but it would need to be around pick 10ish.

Not that i think sheil is the better of the 2. More that he has high value because of his age. We need to diversify our midfeild. We looked a worse team when darc came back from injury. Purely because the mix in the mid was wrong.

Settefeild worth a punt but we need to allow him time on ball to adjust to a new team and to develop in his natural position.

Hopefully this allows stringer more to fwd, and prevents him injuries.

Trading Parish for pick 10 is one of the most baffling things I’ve read on here.

Shiel won’t be traded for, among other reasons, his experience. We are still an extremely young side, and we’re only going to get younger. We have only 6 players with over 150 games experience (which is a tiny number, in the context of the league) and our most experienced player has only a few over 200. Two of the six have already retired. Another is Heppell who is almost certainly on his last year and is no seniors certainty. And one is Stringer, who’s an inspirational player when he’s on, but isn’t a leader’s bunghole.

You cannot build a side from kids alone, even if you have one or two senior players hanging around. Just ask the Gold Coast how it went when they tried it.

A pick in the top 10 at a minimum i would say. He has had one year ad an a grader. This year he was injured. 2021 he was a b grader.

Overated player.

I don’t think it’ll take him long to develop in his natural position - it’s more simply whether he’s good enough or not.

With a new coach, the whole squad will need to adjust a bit to his setups / game plan.

If GWS keep their picks and can’t trade up to pick 1 then wouldn’t mind trying to trade -
22 and future pick 2nd for 15, 44 and 61 - they won’t be using those later picks anyway.
Get ahead of the Davey pick.
Maybe a top 10 slider. Wouldn’t mind Hollands and then try and pinch his brother to come and play with us in the future.

Taranto was just traded for 12 and 19, how can you think Parish is only worth 10?

Value typically goes down with age, not up.

Worth considering doesn’t have to be a mother of all deals or even a win just something that justifies moving him on. We can still develop with or without him as a starting mid or even in our best 22.

We don’t have a salary squeeze so there’s nothing stopping us honouring his contract. So I repeat forget the hypotheticals unless there is genuine interest in another club stumping up something of value then just move on already.
