2023 Injury updates and news

Port have also documented as to having stepped up their physical training more than previous years so maybe correlation there?

You’re so repetitive, our injuries are again mounting as they have been for a consistent time, yes all team have injuries, Essendon are consistently at the poor end and with our most important and often young players. But please keep posting this over and over cos honestly it makes you look more whiny than those complaining about our injuries.

So almost a third of our list either are injured or in rehab?

Cox and Jayden Davey are running laps

I read other club’s tweets/articles and journo’s reports.

See age article for example.

Update - 4th of Feb

  • Reid - (Back) “stress” injury, long term (3 months, which he is 7 weeks into). Hasn’t started running
  • Stewart - (Foot) Just starting running at a good pace, should be able to build up from here
  • Cox - (Back) Just doing modified training
  • Tsatas - (Knee) surgery 8 -10 weeks (aiming for rd 4/5 return)
  • Weideman - (Quad) running laps at a strong pace, should be back in full training next week
  • Hind - (Quad) running laps at a strong pace, should be back in full training next week
  • Wright - (Calf) running laps at a strong pace, should be back in full training next week
  • Stringer (Back soreness) doing some light running today
  • Guelfi (Calf) not sighted at training, 2 to 3 weeks is the indication

Our club is cursed… oh another club has an injury… let’s ignore it

Been pretty cursed since choosing FC

Our club is cursed and farked BECAUSE another club has an injury.

Should we ignore the recent underperformance of our medical/fitness department - as was clearly highlighted in the internal/external reviews - because other clubs also get injuries?

IMO, we need to set the bar higher than ‘but this other club had it worse!’.

7 wins doesn’t look like too bad if we only compare it to how North went.

I don’t reckon Dees win a flag with our medical department.

Just looked through the injury list of all the clubs. Numerically we have many more the number of any other clubs injured. And probably talent wise as well. This is the case every pre-season. Can’t be bad luck.

Wright, Wiederman and Hind should be fully fit next week. That doesn’t look too bad to me.

Yes, but we have a whole week to arrange replacements for them.

They will be back for a moment or two then rested again.

Thankfully most of our injuries are minor; the concern I have is how reliant we are on Wright & BZT atm.

He doesn’t get talked about much, but a fit Stewart would actually be really handy backup right about now.

Where did you find them?

I’m convinced it’s years of not training hard enough. The standard of our games shows that.
Always second to the ball, can’t run out games etc.

Just shows how much injuries play a part in finishing position on the ladder, sure there are some outliers but a good injury run usually means a good season.

I hope Murphy gets it right this season
