No 26+ year olds that aren’t moving the dial please.
Daniel is a handy player but we should be looking for a long term solution off half back.

We have one Saad
Posts years ago Bergman would be good
Another player I like is Nick Murray, injuries, ACL but he will become a good player also
I just give him likes because I love those type of posts. It was a bit early this year and I was still upset about our performance to give a like this time around.
Great finals player though. Tough as well and a good kick, all things we typically struggle with. I reckon he would be a great pick up for any team.
Like Bergman a lot, especially his ability to play tall.
I would put Bergman in Redman’s current role and move Redman into Martins unaccountable half back role. Martin goes to his rightful spot on the wing/half forward
Hope we get Perryman
I seem to recall I was one of few arguing to trade Parish at the time but here we are…
I assume it’s become a bit clearer for you now?
Yes he went at a goal a game but even last year it was pretty clear that his ceiling was and is incredibly low as he is so limited athletically and that’s even before taking into account his decision making and the fact he’s not exactly silky skilled with ball in hand.
I’m happy to concede that he mightn’t be as bad as he has been recently, he’s clearly down on confidence, but even allowing for that, he is 100% a jobber.
I dont think you needed to reference my post.
He was quite good last year and kicked a very respectable amount of goals for someone basically playing their first year of footy.
That was last year, and this is this year. He has been crap, and its clear now he isnt an afl level player.
Why not, it’s a forum? We had a discussion earlier this year and I’m continuing it now that we have more evidence/data. You asked me why I (and others) were referring to him that way despite the fact he’d kicked 23 goals. I would much prefer he became a superstar and your defence of him was warranted but sadly, his lack of weapons has exposed him.
Because how he has played this year has absolutey nothing to do with what was said about him at the time of my comment.
Based on the knowledge we had at the time, I think I was more than justified in calling out the criticism.
He had statistically a very good season for a first year small forward.
He has gone backwards and yes, he is ■■■■ now.
Hindsight is 20/20.
Always happy to discuss stuff on here, but I dont think that comment is particularly relevant in anyway now.
Because you can make an appraisal of a player’s bonafides and long term utility beyond merely a look at a goal tally. It’s not hindsight. You’ve got to be pretty special to make it as a small forward at AFL level if you’re not quick. The fact that he lacked pace, tricks (sidestep, baulks etc), standout kicking skills or overhead ability when required, was all evident last year. You called the criticism stupid. I’m allowed to express why I believe it wasn’t stupid.
When is Brent Daniels out of contract. Offer him big dollars to come home to Vic.
I think its pretty dumb to criticise any first year player that performs like he did.
Theres not many smalls that kick 23 goals in their first year of afl footy. His tackle numbers were pretty good too. Not saying you were the one but there were lots of people on here calling him a complete jobber which at the time I didnt think was fair at all. Of course those comments have turned out to be true.
Like I said, hindsight is 20/20.
Not really relevant because I obviously dont think he’s any good now.
I’d formulate a response but it feels like we’ll just end up going around in circles, all good.
Anyway, for some extraordinary reason he’s going to be around in 2025 so for the sake of the club I hope he finds his mojo and at least returns to 2023 levels to provide some depth.
He’s obviously not as bad as he is displaying in the last month, he’ll play better, I just think, and have always thought that he doesn’t possess the traits to be the answer or to sustain a career at AFL level.
I agree. I think we have seen enough now that its obvious he isnt an AFL level player.
Should we consider trading Wright to Melbourne?? I reckon they might realise they have 1 more shot at a flag with Gawn, May, Viney and even guys like Petracca, Lever, Salem and Langdon are 28. I have no idea what we’d want or be able to get in trade but they may be desperate and will pay overs for a shot at getting 2022 Wright again.
We’ll throw in Weideman aswell.
