2023 into 2024 trade talk (Part 4)

I’d prefer to retain BZT.

Pretty much.

The classic stats don’t tell half the story of how well players are playing their designated role.

Flip side of that is this with Duursma. His role sucks and he wants more footy.

that would be because they didn’t deal with us, so it would be pointless saying it to begin with.

This trade
BZT for Duursma
Port get their defender
We get a fairly good player.
Unless Port knows of any other available defenders going around?

That isn’t an option.

We could sweeten the deal.

worth noting that Langdon also plays that roll at something ridiculous like 90% TOG.

Duursma was sitting at about 75%

Port finished top 4, maybe listening to the coach on those tactics is a good thing, at Essendon we value the stat sheet 1st and actual results 2nd.

Admittedly i havent seen much of Duursma recently. But this article stinks of a club covering up a player whose out of form. Shopping for maximum return on a kid they dont rate.

If the club are aware that his natural game is not on display because of this role, why have they asked him to explore his options at another club while under contract? Why are they not asking for more from us if hes a great player whose been asked to play a mitigating role? Why are they not fighting harder to keep him?

List managers don’t make their valuations of players from news articles.

Hope we drive a hard bargain for BZT because as a wise man in this thread once said once a player nominates you, you have to get the trade done regardless of what you have to pay.

So the same would apply to us and Duursma.

We loved Saad while trade period was ongoing, as soon as he left it was all about how he refused to defend and wanted to attack more. It’s the game clubs like to play.

100%. Throw a 1st and a future 1st for him. Must get it done.

Wondering if a Brodie McLaughlin would be an upgrade on Voss. 53 goals in the VFL. Not as physical as Voss (from what I’ve seen), but appears a better player. Good goal nous.

Duursma’s manager was saying that Duursma was told he was welcome to see what was out there. And that once clubs were made aware that was the case Freo and Essendon were the main interest.

Be honest, do you have this saved in notepad or something? Just swing by for the occasional copy paste?.

Fwiw I wouldn’t even be against the idea really

Why? Genuine question

He turns 26 next month and is shorter than Voss, who some on here don’t think is tall enough to play KP.

Wouldn’t go near him tbh. Rather we stuck with at least one of Hunter/Voss (self admitted Voss fan though).
