Exactly its why i cant see it being a straight swap picks will be involved

He actually played a bit of VFL though.

Like we have all been suggesting for a week. It’s all artificial drama
What drama?
It’s spelt Duursma
So why did you repost the whole friggen article when it’s already been posted twice.
Yeah I suspect that’s how it will go down. Hopefully we try to improve our draft position and get higher into the first round with our top pick. Overall signing the 3 FAs, getting Duursma and upgrading our 1st pick would be a great result. If we got rid of Shiel’s salary it would be a home run of a trade/FA period but looks like that isn’t going to occur now.
So when Essendon came calling it did not take long for Duursma to ask for a trade to Tullamarine.
Those close to Duursma say his decision was also based on his job description.
At Port Adelaide he has been asked to play a sacrificial role on a wing, one that does not sound overly enjoyable.
Duursma has been designed a running pattern that delivers large GPS numbers for limited disposals.
It is almost a graveyard role. He runs away from the contest, taking his opponent with him, to open up a channel for the likes of – you guessed it – Butters and Rozee to strut their stuff.
Bombers players are familiar with the tactic. They say under former coach Ben Rutten they had a similar role … but it was one nobody really wanted to do.
Under new coach Brad Scott, Duursma would be restored to a traditional wing position. Those saying he is chasing midfield minutes are off the mark.
This boy wants to play on a wing, because that is where his weapons can be used.
But he wants a traditional wing role, where he can run up and down the tram tracks and stay in the game. He would be a link man at the Bombers rather than a space invader.
The Bombers think they can develop Duursma into a decent footballer, and it is a move that simply makes sense for all involved.
I don’t see Duursma being contracted increasing his trade value.
If he is overpaid or port don’t rate him as highly, which I suspect both to be the case, then if anything it lowers his trade value, as port prefer to let him go/get him off their books.
The Zaka; Ham role!
Such a good line.
No one wants to be a space invader.
Hey, want to play football, but also kinda just be a decoy and run away from where the football is, and we probably won’t have the ball go through you at all.
Yep, ■■■■ that.
Run away from the football and allow Butters and Rozee to get off the chain!
Meanwhile, we’ll allow the media to just rip into you for having poor games but we’ll appreciate it all behind the scenes. Good job!
Journos don’t dictate the value of a a player, the market does. Port are desperate for tall defenders, Essendon could take or leave Duursma. It will be a straight swap or nothing.
its interesting hey?
thats the role langdon has dominated the last 4 years. melbourne makes a lot of noise about appreciating his efforts.
Melbourne are a noticeably worse side when he’s out.
I haven’t seen the stats, but he still gets plenty of the ball
hes pretty much the blueprint of that type of winger
Cos we’re a destination club ![]()
