I like Stoddart…doubt he would be looked at.

A question we have to consider is do we select a player who nominates an 18 month contract?

List spots are extremely tight for the end of the year and if we add another player then someone will be very unlucky to go an the end of the year

I don’t think we will have any trouble finding blokes to delist at seasons end

You say that off the cuff. Not easy when you go through it.

I’ve got Lord and Heppell out
Stewart gets demoted to rookie list or paid out
Baldwin needs to be upgraded so that a main list spot.

If Phillips goes you need to replace with a another ruck

Then your down to Snelling.

It’s tight!

Ben Ronke nominated for the MSD should we?

Did the whole Coburg list nominate!?

No.

I don’t see it personally. Unless Walla retires and we drop Stewart mid-contract, we’ve still got a pretty tight management problem. It’s a hazard of having such a young list, it’s hard to tell who’s not up to it and who just needs time. After Heppell/Phillips/Lord it’s basically those guys and then what, Hind? And these are current 22 players we’re talking about cutting here. Phillips stank on Saturday night but has been huge for us earlier in the year, against Melbourne for instance.

Phillips & Lord definitely

Not sold on Heppell he has had a few good games and he might want to continue

Walla
Snelling
Tex to rookie if he isn’t already
Stewart to rookie

One of Bryan or Phillips will go, I’d be getting rid of Phillips.
Heppell
Lord
Pay out Stewart
One of Hind or Mass
Possibly Snelling.
We could potentially lose some via trade too

Phillips
Montgomery - would be extremely stiff, playing well in the 2’s and only be 6 months on the list
Lord
AMT
McBride - Doesn’t really count as he is a Cat B spot

Thinking about those limited spots, considering how middling to poor we’ve been over the years, we really haven’t gone that hard at the draft. Since 2017 we’ve gone 3, 3, 4, 5 (2 academy), 3, 4 (2 F/S). Over a 6 year period we’ve drafted 4 more players than the absolute bare minimum.

Would you have wanted to go hard when

2017 first pick was 49
2018 first pick was 38
2019 first pick was 30
2021 second pick was 46

Surprised Harry Grant is putting his hand up. Thought he was happy at the Storm.

I’d be considering two picks (Jones or Stewart to go inactive), and look at a ruckman second.

Jakob Anderson so close to being able to end the curse…

I would just go with Narkle. Provides some midfield depth. Is capable of good games, perhaps BDB can get him more consistent
