What’s your point? We aren’t top 6 so we aren’t looking for depth we need to find a best 22. Call them what ever you want they aren’t helping us turn our fortunes around. Delist and take a chance on others.

We could do a Carlton next year and fans in here will think we are no good

Oh come on.

You’ve been slagging the club for years, and now you’ve decided to change your tune to mr positive…… based on what? Ben McKay?

My point is every list has these types of players. If you’re not in the window you generally cut them but they likely get replaced by draft pick player 40 and above, who in turn are generally list cloggers themselves.

The talent pool isn’t deep enough, so players that are not AFL quality will be on every list in the AFL

Not at all

Such an Essendon thing to say. “Next year…”

It’s almost like we can only say next year because the previous one has finished. Funny thing that.

Read my post. I said that’s likely what will happen in terms of the onfield short-term and im ok with that provided they bring in people with a better attitude and willingness to work hard. We currently have cloggers who also don’t offer anything in regards to building a good culture. May as well try to improve that at the very least.

I think you’re missing the point.

Nino is doing his usual off season transformation into his buoyant and positive alter ego. Give it a few weeks into the season. Or maybe a few quarters.

There are two Nino’s. In-season Nino and off-season Nino.

Carlton have a decent midfield and forwardline pieces.

we have a couple of peices but not as much of the puzzle as blues.

And arguably the best full back in the AFL.

I think you are just being negative for the sake of it. If Nino wants to be positive about the club, or anyone else, then let him be that. The list is poorly structured but not everyone on it is a list clogger and with good coaching things can change.

All we can do is look to next year and hope they (changes) finally have. I expect it will be two years before we see the full change if it is coming. Until then we just keep looking forward.

Can I confirm that that player is Merrett? I assume it is, but depending on your definition of star it could also be Parish or Ridley, or Stringer or Wright.

While the team is performing like they have been the “stars” aren’t obvious. But we have players who may yet be stars, even ignoring the young guys who might have the capacity to grow into being stars.

We will try and draft a star. We will try and trade for one if the opportunity is there, but in the meantime getting the bones of the team right is the thing that we can pursue. I don’t see the issue with that?

Oh you wait. The selective button will come on and Scott and Vozzo will be on the gun.

They need a chance.

If we make a prelim, I’ll be praising Brad Scott and the players for turning this club around. I’ll be celebrating as much as anyone.

But after 20 years of heart break, the club needs to actually perform before I start celebrating what we might have.

Here is why that is farcical.
We have no stars players other than Merrett, while Carlton have 6 genuine star players and may have 8 by the end of the 2024 season.

Carlton launched a review into it’s injury management in the off season in 2022 and completely revamped fitness department. They had almost a full list available leading into finals and by some magical coincidence were the most inform team in the back end of 2023.
We refuse to even identify the medical team as a problem and are already going into round 1 with question marks over our best players.
