Good luck/Bad luck
Good luck Ed Richards gets midfield and defensive eligibility to gain me a midfielder (was a defender at the start of the season). Now he gets a second concussion in a few weeks so he is out anyway.
2 of my left field picks Boak and Tucker paid off big time this week both tonned up! We still lost, congrats @Blummers32
Small rule about FAs tomorrow nightā¦
Given the mid season draft is tomorrow, the players selected wonāt be available until the next round.
I doubt theyāll be on AFL Fantasy in time for people to make decisions prior to FAs are processed and itās only fair that everyone gets an equal crack at mid-season draftees.
@Windy_Dill. The El-Hawli pick is voided. Mid season draft picks will be available from next week onwards. Also, you didnāt specify how many players you wanted. @JBaller92. Brandon Walker was a void pick. He was taken last week. Maybe he was taken very late after you were searching through FA scraps.
Just take the one player.
No one missed out on taking your last two players, so it doesnāt mess anything up.
Iāll adjust the thread sometime tomorrow.
Just remember for next time to list how many players you want (or list any random names) in the PM.
I may need to come up with a rule to allow some flexibility.
I may leave it as it is and when I post the results, I just tag coaches in who havenāt said how many they want and then clean any issues up afterwards. Itās not a weekly occurrence and itās an honest mistake.
Just donāt want a rule to be exploited or mess up anyone elseās FA picks.
Iāll have to put some framework rules around trading during rounds.
Itāll go something likeā¦
If itās player for player, the coaches can do the trades at their discretion. They handle the transaction on AFL Fantasy.
If itās player for picks, then itāll get held over until the end of the round.
Itās a tad unfair to rely on me being on-line prior to a game starts to process the game. Also I donāt want to be put in a position where me being online or not is the difference between the game Iām playing is in my favour or not. Itās just a tad messy.
Once a trade is confirmed, it is confirmed.
If the player goes on to injure themselves by the time it is processed, itās up to both coaches if they want to renegotiate the trade, but coaches are not obligated to renegotiate. Itās buyer beware, just like trading in pre-season and hoping for a particular player position.
Well done, Smote.
It warms my heart to see some PT old boys doing okay.
Decent performance against quality opposition again.
Three midfield tons in the magoos last week.
One a vet, sure, but two rookies.
Work to be done, but I feel like the transition is being made from cellar dweller to mid-table.
CB and Smote might not be so lucky next year.
Hereās what I have.
Please check your scores and let me know if thereās any problems.
A few coaches named a bye player in the 18 which is fine assuming you want the bench score to count.
Iāll give coaches until tomorrow lunchtime to object to any of the scores. Iāll check them again prior to entering them into AFL Fantasy.
Fantasy Footy gods really not on my side atm. Canāt quite get over the line in key games. Doesnāt help that a few family things going on meant that I missed the fact that Wards average wasnāt allowed. But even if Iād juggled things around Boltonās omission probably then leaves us short in the forward line. Every time I try to get certain players out of the 18, I end up needing them.
It definitely is.
I feel like Iām struggling week to week, but I manage to get 18 on the field and a few players pop up and give me more than I expect. Thereās always one or two that surprise and the rest range between getting within 5 of their average.
The main thing thatās holding me up is Iām using FA more aggressively to provide weekly coverage and taking chances on average players who play on the Thursday or Friday night and sticking them on the bench for a possible loophole.
Maybe something to think about for next season: FA cut off at 10pm Thursday night with Thursday game players only selected early the following week. Doing FA before team sheets had caused problems for a few I think including the trading out of high potential keeper type players in the week where they coincidentally got selected.
I was thinking of doing 2 FAs. One on Wednesday night and again on Thursday.
It rewards coaches who take a punt on a player on the Wednesday night.
But the āpick up the player and drop whoever you want, whenever you wantā rule makes it difficult to be clear who is available each night.
Iām not sure whether I want to be doing FAs next year. Itās been 5 years and Iād love to spend more than 5 minutes deciding who Iām going to pick up that coming week.
It might be that we just leave it FAs open and bidding only occurs on waiver players through the AFL Fantasy platform. Previously we steered away from the open slather approach because it became a distinct disadvantage to those that were overseas. I remember the year I was overseas, Iād barely even catch who got selected let alone when the Sunday emergencies were confirmed.
Itās something we have to get to once the season ends. Pretty sure weāre going to the 6-5-1-6 setup that the other comp is using.
Iām not enjoying these bye rounds either so thatāll be looked at. It would have been so much easier to just override the player score and let the system calculate the total score than to only adjust the overall score.
