Good luck/Bad luck
Good luck Ed Richards gets midfield and defensive eligibility to gain me a midfielder (was a defender at the start of the season). Now he gets a second concussion in a few weeks so he is out anyway.

2 of my left field picks Boak and Tucker paid off big time this week both tonned up! We still lost, congrats @Blummers32

Small rule about FAs tomorrow night…
Given the mid season draft is tomorrow, the players selected won’t be available until the next round.
I doubt they’ll be on AFL Fantasy in time for people to make decisions prior to FAs are processed and it’s only fair that everyone gets an equal crack at mid-season draftees.

FAs have been processed.

@Windy_Dill. The El-Hawli pick is voided. Mid season draft picks will be available from next week onwards. Also, you didn’t specify how many players you wanted.
@JBaller92. Brandon Walker was a void pick. He was taken last week. Maybe he was taken very late after you were searching through FA scraps.

Edit…
@You_Shall_Be_Smoten. For next week’s FA updates, I have 3 empty list spots due to trades. @Split_Infinity has 1 empty spot. @JBaller92 may also have 1 empty spot.

@Blummers32
I’d only like to to take one player, but I’ll take as many as required if it messes with FA selections.

Sorry, forgot to nominate the number FA players I’d like to take.

Just take the one player.
No one missed out on taking your last two players, so it doesn’t mess anything up.
I’ll adjust the thread sometime tomorrow.

Just remember for next time to list how many players you want (or list any random names) in the PM.

I may need to come up with a rule to allow some flexibility.

Thanks!

It’s a good system, I just need to follow the protocols.

No dramas.
It’s been updated.

I may leave it as it is and when I post the results, I just tag coaches in who haven’t said how many they want and then clean any issues up afterwards. It’s not a weekly occurrence and it’s an honest mistake.

Just don’t want a rule to be exploited or mess up anyone else’s FA picks.

Let me know if you want this trade to go through this week (Trotters gets the bye score) or next week (Scotty gets the bye score).

I think it’s only fair that you make it effective from the end of this round so that @Awesome_Scotty gets his average this week.

I’ll have to put some framework rules around trading during rounds.

It’ll go something like…

  • If it’s player for player, the coaches can do the trades at their discretion. They handle the transaction on AFL Fantasy.
  • If it’s player for picks, then it’ll get held over until the end of the round.
It’s a tad unfair to rely on me being on-line prior to a game starts to process the game. Also I don’t want to be put in a position where me being online or not is the difference between the game I’m playing is in my favour or not. It’s just a tad messy.
  • Once a trade is confirmed, it is confirmed.
If the player goes on to injure themselves by the time it is processed, it’s up to both coaches if they want to renegotiate the trade, but coaches are not obligated to renegotiate. It’s buyer beware, just like trading in pre-season and hoping for a particular player position.

I’ll do the bye scores tomorrow. Should be done by lunchtime sometime.

There wasn’t a volunteer checker, so I implore you to check your own games once I’ve done them and let me know if there are any problems.

Well done, Smote.
It warms my heart to see some PT old boys doing okay.

Decent performance against quality opposition again.
Three midfield tons in the magoos last week.
One a vet, sure, but two rookies.
Work to be done, but I feel like the transition is being made from cellar dweller to mid-table.
CB and Smote might not be so lucky next year.

Here’s what I have.
Please check your scores and let me know if there’s any problems.
A few coaches named a bye player in the 18 which is fine assuming you want the bench score to count.

I’ll give coaches until tomorrow lunchtime to object to any of the scores. I’ll check them again prior to entering them into AFL Fantasy.

Congrats , Red.

Fantasy Footy gods really not on my side atm. Can’t quite get over the line in key games. Doesn’t help that a few family things going on meant that I missed the fact that Wards average wasn’t allowed. But even if I’d juggled things around Bolton’s omission probably then leaves us short in the forward line. Every time I try to get certain players out of the 18, I end up needing them.

A harsh season, this one remains.

It’s a freakin’ weird season.
Feels like covid season, in some ways.

It definitely is.
I feel like I’m struggling week to week, but I manage to get 18 on the field and a few players pop up and give me more than I expect. There’s always one or two that surprise and the rest range between getting within 5 of their average.

The main thing that’s holding me up is I’m using FA more aggressively to provide weekly coverage and taking chances on average players who play on the Thursday or Friday night and sticking them on the bench for a possible loophole.

Maybe something to think about for next season: FA cut off at 10pm Thursday night with Thursday game players only selected early the following week. Doing FA before team sheets had caused problems for a few I think including the trading out of high potential keeper type players in the week where they coincidentally got selected.

I was thinking of doing 2 FAs. One on Wednesday night and again on Thursday.
It rewards coaches who take a punt on a player on the Wednesday night.

But the ā€˜pick up the player and drop whoever you want, whenever you want’ rule makes it difficult to be clear who is available each night.

I’m not sure whether I want to be doing FAs next year. It’s been 5 years and I’d love to spend more than 5 minutes deciding who I’m going to pick up that coming week.

It might be that we just leave it FAs open and bidding only occurs on waiver players through the AFL Fantasy platform. Previously we steered away from the open slather approach because it became a distinct disadvantage to those that were overseas. I remember the year I was overseas, I’d barely even catch who got selected let alone when the Sunday emergencies were confirmed.

It’s something we have to get to once the season ends. Pretty sure we’re going to the 6-5-1-6 setup that the other comp is using.
I’m not enjoying these bye rounds either so that’ll be looked at. It would have been so much easier to just override the player score and let the system calculate the total score than to only adjust the overall score.

And now I’m gonna be crucified for the stupid rule change to have too many Cs.

My best performing C is out for the season.

Scored updated.

Ladder updated.

FA is this Wednesday.
Another bye round next week. Port and Freo have the bye.

I’m going to need a volunteer to help check bye scores for this round.
